A Mola di Bari arriva "Bar da Mù", musical contro la violenza di genere
Theatre
After achieving success in Rome with six sold-out shows, the original musical "Bar da Mù," written by Martina Ferrazzano, Raffaele Fracchiolla, and Marianna Ferrazzano and performed by the theatrical group "I SognAttori," is coming to Puglia with two performances of significant social value.
The show will be staged on November 29th (at 8:30 PM) and 30th (at 5:00 PM) at the Van Westerhout Theater in Mola di Bari, included in the official program of events promoted during the week against violence against women, thanks to the support of the Municipality of Mola di Bari.
The musical "Bar da Mù" is indeed a lighthearted comedy suitable for the whole family, where laughter and emotion blend, thanks to its ability to address themes with a strong social impact that are very current. Scene by scene, the characters reveal their stories, bringing to light issues such as usury and gender violence. The show, in particular, explores various female stories, showing paths of everyday oppression but also of brave awareness and liberation.
The social vocation of the event will also be highlighted by the precious collaboration with the Anti-violence Center “Il Melograno” of the Mola di Bari district, which will provide an intervention during the theater evenings before the performance, and by the presence of the local AVIS of Mola di Bari, which will handle ticket sales and reservations. Additionally, on the morning of November 29th, there will be a matinee performance dedicated to high school students from Mola di Bari, aiming to engage and stimulate reflection in the new generations.
The initiative also represents a homecoming for part of the “I SognAttori” company, which was founded in Rome in 2011 and has roots—including those of the directors—that trace back to Mola di Bari.
The plot of the musical “Bar da Mù” is set in 1930s Rome, transporting the audience to the banks of the Tiber inside "Bar da Mù," which is run by the energetic Claudia and serves as a true refuge for souls seeking a second chance. Here, the lives of various characters intersect, including Cesco, a young man with a broken heart hoping to start anew. However, fate confronts him with his past: at the bar counter, he meets Marzia, the woman who abandoned him years ago without an explanation and who is now engaged to the feared neighborhood boss.
Enhancing the engaging atmosphere is an exceptional soundtrack featuring songs by artists like Mannarino, Vinicio Capossela, and Fred Buscaglione. All the music—arranged for the occasion by Claudio Trionfetti, Leonardo Vita, Mattia Catalano, and Andrea Daniele—and performed live, creates a soundscape that blends the Italian singer-songwriter tradition with the energy of the musical. The production is enriched by sets designed by Marianna Ferrazzano and Raffaele Fracchiolla, and choreography by Marianna Ferrazzano, which animate the ensemble moments of the show.
The engaging and lighthearted language of the musical comedy, able to speak to all generations, gives voice to complex and necessary stories: it tackles very current issues, demonstrating how the roots of gender violence and stereotypes are deep but also how solidarity and unity can become concrete tools for building a hopeful future.
"Bringing 'Bar da Mù' outside of Rome has always been our desire: reaching Mola di Bari, a city to which we are deeply connected by family roots, during the week against violence against women, is a source of great pride for us, both professionally and personally," say the directors and authors, Martina Ferrazzano and Raffaele Fracchiolla. "We are honored that our narration contributes to the dialogue promoted by the Municipality, especially by engaging with the new generations in the land where we grew up, demonstrating how theater is an opportunity for reflection and awareness."
This production fits perfectly into the vocation of the "I SognAttori" Theatrical Group of San Giuda Taddeo. Founded in 2011 in the Colli Albani neighborhood of Rome from the passion of Raffaele Fracchiolla and sisters Martina and Marianna Ferrazzano, the group has always used theatrical language to convey important messages and address social and current issues.
