Apertura straordinaria mercoledì 17 aprile per il nostro amico Greg Rekus con INGRESSO LIBERO
For over a decade, Greg Rekus has wowed audiences with countless tours across Canada, the USA, and Europe. His energetic brand of Folk Punk and ability to entertain audiences is unmatched. Like a good wine he gets better with age and his latest release, Sinners Go to Church Saints Go to Jail, promises to be his best work yet. Support tours for the CD and vinyl releases are already in the works and will take Rekus out on the road for the first half of 2024, visiting all his favourite stops.
Sinners Go to Church Saints Go to Jail features a new Inside Job line-up, with Shea Koch on drums and Blue McLeod (Grotoko) on bass, accordion, and background vocals. Darryl Riley (Sub City Dwellers) returns on saxophone, and John Paul Peters (Propagandhi, Comeback Kid, Royal Canoe) once again takes the reins on recording, bringing the record together. This fresh iteration of the band gives the album an original sound that is not so much a departure from Rekus’ previous style, but a reinvigoration of the clever rhymes and catchy melodies that Rekus is known for. Featuring eleven original tracks and a cover of Philly’s beloved folk punk legends, Mischief Brew, Sinners is truly an album that has something for everyone.
Rekus’s passion for music is bursting at the seams. It is the driving force that keeps him constantly on the road and cranking out album after album of folk punk goodness. During live performances, audiences are treated to an entertainer who treats the stage as his home. With high energy and infectious enthusiasm, Rekus has a natural ability to engage with a diverse assortment of crowds from around the world. His lyrics speak to common experiences, such as drinking in a favourite hometown bar, or the simultaneous joy and heartache of falling in love, but also do not shy away from making pointed political commentary, coloured with the anger and frustration that comes along with it. Delivering each line with a force that is rivalled by few other solo artists, Rekus emphasizes his words with every strum of his guitar, pounding the beat out on his custom-built stomp box. His hard work has already gotten him to places he never thought attainable, and as far as he’s concerned, the only way from here is up.
