Ninni Morgia & Marcello Magliocchi - “Season Two”

Continua la programmazione dedicata all'improvvisazione radicale con il duo Ninni Morgia & Marcello Magliocchi che presentano il CD “Season Two”, secondo lavoro del duo dopo l'acclamato "Sound Gates" (LP Ultramarine, 2011). Il nuovo album consiste di 8 tracce di un elegante impro-free jazz. Simile ad un mix di Hendrix e Sonny Sharrock con la cieca luce di Keiji Haino, il tutto impastato con la personale tessitura di percussioni e batteria che suonano come un'estensione delle vibrazioni dell'animo umano.

Ninni Morgia proviene dalla Sicilia, membro fondatore del gruppo noise rock italiano White Tornado negli anni 90, attivo nella scena newyorchese free jazz/impro, ha suonato, registrato e girato con William Parker, Daniel Carter, Peter Evans, Kevin Shea, Lee Ranaldo e molti altri. E' stato anche membro della formazione psychorock La Otracina (per Holy Mountain). Attualmente ha un nuovo gruppo con Silvia Kastel e Gary Smith chiamato Brand, e un duo industrial noise chiamato Control Unit con Silvia Kastel.

Marcello Magliocchi è stato attivo sin dai primi anni 70 ed ha registrato e suonato con artisti eccezionali quali Steve Lacy, Evan Parker, Peter Kowald, Mal Waldron, John Tchicai, Kent Carter, Joelle Leandre, Carlos Zingaro, Matthias Boss, Paulo Chagas, Maresuke Okamoto, Steve Potts, William Parker,...e innumerevoli altri. Ha anche pubblicato i propri lavori per la Ictus Label di Andrea Centazzo, ed è scultore e designer per la marca UFIP, creando strani strumenti simili a marimbe graffiando pietre trovate in spiaggia, ma anche litofoni, cimbali ed enormi campane scultoree.

“Season Two” is the second work of the duo Ninni Morgia – Marcello Magliocchi after the acclaimed “Sound Gates” (LP Ultramarine, 2011). The new album consists in 8 tracks of elegant improv-free jazz. It seems like a mix of Hendrix and Sonny Sharrock with the blinded lightness of Keiji Haino, all fused with the personal texture of the drums and the percussions which sound as an extension of human soul’s vibration.

Ninni Morgia from Sicily, a founding member of the Italian noise rock group White Tornado in the 90’s, active in NYC’s free jazz/improv scenes, has played, recorded and toured with William Parker, Daniel Carter, Peter Evans, Kevin Shea, Lee Ranaldo and many more. He was also member of the psychedelic rock outfit La Otracina (on Holy Mountain). Currently he has a new group with Silvia Kastel and Gary Smith called Brand and a industrial noise duo called Control Unit with Silvia Kastel.

Marcello Magliocchi has been active since the early 70s and has played and recorded with amazing artists like Steve Lacy, Evan Parker, Peter Kowald, Mal Waldron, John Tchicai, Kent Carter, Joelle Leandre, Carlos Zingaro, Matthias Boss, Paulo Chagas, Maresuke Okamoto, Steve Potts, William Parker,... and countless others. He also put out his work on Andrea Centazzo’s Ictus label and is a sculptor and designer for the UFIP brand, making strange marimba-like instruments from scratch from found beach stones, along with litophones, cymbals and huge sculpture bells.
