(RAKKA BIO) ENGLISH VERSION
For starters, here’s what some colleagues had to say:
“If Elephant Man is the energy god of dancehall, Rakka is the energy bomb of the dancefloor” Dj Damented
As a certified master in philosophy, Rakka is an expert in acting and looking at things differently. His music history started about ten years ago, at a dancehall/urban bash in his hometown. Back in those days, the internet was just a toy for nerd. You actually had to go out and listen to deejays to discover new tracks.
All of a sudden, he was overwhelmed by a magnificent feeling. Most people would blame it on the alcohol, but Rakka knew that wasn’t the case for him. It were the sugary sweet sounds from Jamaica coming through the speakers that mesmerized him. The power and the energy revealed a new world to him and became his first real love. Later that night, Deejay Flip (RIP) started playing. That was the second time he fell in love, and this time it was with awesome skills, scratches and turntablism.
“With an overdose of energy and an original style, Rakka makes sure the crowd keeps on partying until the early morning. Better set out some Redbull!” Waxfiend
After that wonderful party experience, he locked himself in his room with his sweeties: Miss Turntable and Miss Mixer. Not knowing that this was a combination that wasn’t allowed in the music industry, he had to settle a lot of disagreements between his two precious treasures. Eventually, they created a relationship that was never seen before. Together, they created the first dancehall turntablist energy bomb.
“Rakka is one of the most energetic DJs I’ve ever seen. His amazing performance and creativity, are taking this game to a higher level” Black Chiney
And from that moment on, he did it Frank Sinatra style: He did it his way. The reason was quite simple: Real rockers, called “rakkas” in Jamaica, play everything from urban, rnb and dancehall to disco, soca, oldies, soul and even kuduro, bmore, elektro, house and dubstep. All these styles are mixed into a never seen combination of energy and skills. Rakka became the one and only energy bomb that kills with ill skills.
“Rakka is one of the best dj’s i’ve had the chance to play with in Belgium … He has good skilz, good remixes and a lot of juice on the turntables … This guy is really sick … He reminds me when i was younger” Daddy K
Rakka has had a whole line-up of artists in the studio to record customized tunes, called dub plates, for him. He can add the following names to his collection, such as Inner Circle, Kurtis Blow, Nas & Damian Marley, Diana King, Capleton, John Holt, Sizzla, Serani and many more. He has also played back-to-back with a number of deejays such as Daddy-K, Black Frank, Waxfiend, Civalizee, Herbalize it and others. Rakka has become quite notorious for killing five deejays at the Red Bulls 3Style DJ competition in Lille and whooping Nadiem Shah’s ass at the Stu Bru’s Café Local on Belgium’s national radio. Rakka has played at parties and events such as Coolsweat, Offthewall, Urban Vibez, Got Back, Club Soda and more. He has been invited to clubs such as Decadance (Ghent), De Vooruit (Ghent), Het Depot (Louvain), Casino (Oostende), and even clubs in Lille and Paris. Last but not least, he has also shared the decks with names like Adam F, Benny Page, Hype, Black Chiney, TLP, David Rodigan, etc. Apart from spinning tracks, Rakka is a passionate promoter of events such as The Licious, Sweet Taboo, Gold Diggin and Caribbean & Steamy Nights.
“Rakka? Als klein ventje in een vat vol Red Bull gevallen en tot de tanden gewapend met dubs & skillz … Villians beware! ” Budda, Civalizee Foundation”
By now, you should have gotten the point: Rakka is by far one of the hardest working people in the business. If you disagree, try to prove him wrong.
