Peppino di Capri nasce a Capri il 27 luglio 1939. Figlio d’arte, a soli quattro anni suona istintivamente al pianoforte canzoni americane di quel periodo.“Enfant prodige” nei week-end siesibisce per il generale Clark e le sue truppe USA di stanza sull’isola, questa matrice musicale lascerà una traccia profonda in tutta la sua carriera. Studia in privato musica classica per 5 anni prima di scoprire la sua nuova tendenza verso la metà degli anni ’50, una certa musica rock che si affacciava all’orizzonte. Nell’autunno del ’58, all’età di diciotto anni, incide i suoi primi dischi: “MALATIA”, “NUN E’ PECCATO”, ecc. Per Peppino e il suo gruppo il successo è immediato, …siamo appena all’inizio di una lunga carriera!

Nei cinque anni successivi lancia hits come “VOCE ‘E NOTTE”, “NESSUNO AL MONDO”, “LUNA CAPRESE”, “LET’S TWIST AGAIN”, “ST. TROPEZ TWIST”, “ROBERTA” etc., brani che lo vedono sempre tra i “numero uno” in vetta alle classifiche.
Nel ’65 partecipa come “supporter” alla mitica e unica tournée italiana dei BEATLES.
Nel ’70 Peppino fonda la SPLASH, la sua casa discografica e studi di registrazione nel ’73 vince il suo primo Festival di Sanremo con “UN GRANDE AMORE E NIENTE PIU’” e nel dicembre dello stesso anno lancia “CHAMPAGNE” che in breve diventa un grande successo internazionale.
Nel ’76 vince il suo secondo Sanremo con “NON LO FACCIO PIU’” e negli anni successivi Peppino raccoglie vari consensi attraverso partecipazioni ai grandi spettacoli del sabato sera e ai vari Sanremo ( ben 15 edizioni ) con IL SOGNATORE, E MO E MO’, EVVIVA MARIA, FAVOLA BLUES etc.
Nel settembre ’98 festeggia i suoi quarant’anni di carriera con lo spettacolo “CHAMPAGNE, DI CAPRI DI PIU” in onda su Rai Uno dalla famosa piazzetta di Capri.
Dall’autunno 2003 ad oggi sono usciti vari album tra i quali:
il “live PEPPINO DI CAPRI IN TOUR”, “ANTOLOGIA NAPOLI IERI NAPOLI OGGI” (5 CD) contenenti 80 brani selezionati tra il ’70 e il ’03, una preziosa raccolta di canzoni napoletane;
seguono “JUKE-BOX”; “CHAMPAGNE”; “AMORE.IT”; “AD OCCHI CHIUSI…NAPOLI” etc. .
Nel 2004 viene pubblicato un libro dal titolo “IL SOGNATORE” scritto da Peppino e Geo Nocchetti, in cui il cantante si racconta attraverso una piacevole sinusoide tra l’artistico ed il privato.
Nel 2009, tra vari concerti e passaggi televisivi, incide 2 CD “COLLECTION” 1 e 2 che mantengono sempre vivo il suo successo discografico sino all’ultimo concerto live al Parco della Musica di Roma da cui è tratto il DVD video e CD audio “Peppino di Capri 50° ANNIVERSARIO”.
Tra il 2007/2010 ha composto e orchestrato la colonna sonora delle 3 fiction “CAPRI”.
Nel 2010/2011 Peppino è impegnato nell’allestimento di un MUSICAL, lavoro che racconta il suo intrigante percorso artistico-musicale.
Tra le novità un album di 12 brani “MAGNIFIQUE With Orchestra”che arricchisce la sua lunga storia musicale, ispirato alla internazionalità della sua isola. L’artista interpreta brani come: “WHEN I FALL IN LOVE”, “L'HYMNE A’ L’AMOUR”, “CRY”, “SOLAMENTE UNA VEZ”, I LOVE PARIS/C’EST MAGNIFIQUE”, etc. e con le stesse nuove sonorità sono inclusi 4 successi classici tra cui: “ROBERTA”, “CHAMPAGNE”, “NUN E’ PECCATO” e “NESSUNO AL MONDO”; chiude l’album un sublime “peppiniano” inedito …"CAMBIAMO".

Biography
Peppino di Capri was born in Capri in 1939. Following his father's footsteps, at age 4, during WWII Peppino was already playing the piano for US soldiers and General Clark on the island with a repertoire mostly made of american songs of that period. This musical phase has heavily influenced his music throughout his career.
In 1958, at age 18, he recorded his first two tracks: "MALATIA" and "NUN E' PECCATO". It was instant success for Peppino and his band, and it's just the beginning of a very long career!
In the following 5 years he recorded hits such as "VOCE 'E NOTTE", "NESSUNO AL MONDO", "LUNA CAPRESE", "LET'S TWIST AGAIN", "ST. TROPEZ TWIST", "ROBERTA" and many more, all songs that reached the top of the charts at their time.
In 1965 Peppino and his band performed as supporting act for the Beatles throughout their italian tour.
In '70 he launched Splash, his record company and recording studio. In '73 he won his first Festival di Sanremo with the tune "UN GRANDE AMORE E NIENTE PIU'" and a few months later he released "CHAMPAGNE", a song that quickly became a classic as well as his biggest international hit along with "ROBERTA".
In '76 he won the Festival di Sanremo (Peppino has taken part to a total of 15 editions of the famous festival) again with the song "NON LO FACCIO PIU'" and in the following years Peppino had great success through many appearances in popular tv shows, and released hits such as "IL SOGNATORE", "E MO' E MO'", "EVVIVA MARIA", "FAVOLA BLUES" and more.
In September '98 Peppino celebrated 40 years of career in music with a show called "CHAMPAGNE, DI CAPRI DI PIU'", aired on RaiUno from the famous Piazzetta, the little square in Capri.
In 2004 "IL SOGNATORE" was published, a book written by Geo Nocchetti, where Peppino talks about himself and his private and artistic life.
In 2009, among several live concerts and tv appearances, he recorded 2 cd's "COLLECTION 1 & 2", keeping his success alive in the new millennium, all the way to his great show in Parco dell Musica in Rome, filmed and released in dvd and cd, entitled "50° ANNIVERSARIO", for the 50th anniversary of his career.
Between 2009 and 2010 Peppino wrote and recorded the soundtrack for "Capri", a successful fiction at its 3rd season aired on Rai TV.
In the last 2 years Peppino has been busy co-writing and putting together a Musical on his artistic and musical journey, and recording a new album, MAGNIFIQUE WITH ORCHESTRA, a collection of international hits such as "CRY", "L'HYMNE A L'AMOUR", "I LOVE PARIS" and "C'EST MAGNIFIQUE", reinterpreted with a symphonic orchestra, released in december 2011.
