The current events, the power of voice and speech as a tool of resistance, and the crucial issues of our time such as discrimination, prejudice, alienation, and war are the themes of the 2024/25 season "Teatrisismi" at the Teatro Serra in Naples. The press conference will be held on Monday, September 16, at 10:30 am, in Fuorigrotta, at Via Diocleziano 316. For more information: teatroserra@gmail.com, 347.8051793 - 334.3224441.
The program includes sixteen shows, to be held on weekends from October to May - showtimes: Friday at 9:00 pm, Saturday at 7:00 pm, Sunday at 6:00 pm - with a range of genres from comedy to drama, music, and dance, including eleven National Premieres, a debut in Campania, and nine artists returning with original projects after participating in the National Prize "Serra-Campi Flegrei" inaugurated in 2021, after the Pandemic, to revive theater. The women are the main protagonists, with their claims, the legacies they still fight against, reflections on society's conditioning and the education of a new generation questioning the meaning of being a 'true man' and a 'true woman.'
"We have managed to offer a program that not only meets the tastes of different audiences but also includes innovative proposals in line with the activity carried out in recent years to create a community of artists who identify with this place, one of the few cultural landmarks still standing in the western area of the city of Naples," say Pietro Tammaro and Mauro Palumbo, who founded this space in 2016, housed in an old Bourbon-era post station.
The season kicks off on Friday, October 4 with "L'anniversario reloaded," a black comedy about men and their struggles to love. A man alone, looks in the mirror and does not recognize himself. It's his anniversary, but his wife has left him. Keeping him company is a mysterious man who will help him understand how and when he became the person he sees reflected. A production of 'Le false partenze' by and with Gianluca d'Agostino, on stage with Agostino Chiummariello - Gennaro in 'Mare fuori' - until Sunday, October 6.
On Monday, October 7 at 8:30 pm, there will be the final of the fourth edition of the National Prize "Serra-Campi Flegrei" dedicated to the theatrical vocation in the art of monologue, sponsored by the Municipality of Naples. Eight artists are competing in the categories of Authors and Actors and will be evaluated by an Honorary Jury composed of personalities from the world of entertainment, culture, and journalism.
