Teatro Serra in Naples inaugurates the 2024/2025 season "Teatrisms" with "The anniversary reloaded," a black comedy about men and love. A production of 'Le false partenze' by Gianluca d'Agostino, starring Agostino Chiummariello – Gennaro in 'Mare Fuori' – Assistant directed by Rossella Amato. Set design by Carmine De Mizio. A man alone in a house filled with disorder, looks at himself in the mirror without recognizing himself. It is his anniversary, but the woman of his life left him four months ago, leaving behind clothes and other objects, pieces of life that seem like relics of a sanctified love, celebrated through the infinite repetition of the anniversary. Keeping him company is a mysterious presence, another man who has a revealing message for him. A pretext to embark on a journey back in time, which will help him understand how and when he became the person he sees reflected. A work with extraordinary comedic timing and an unexpected ending, which tries to ridicule male prejudices about women and a sick idea of love, deeply rooted in the collective mentality and even better represented by the worst mass culture.
So difficult to eradicate to the point of risking slipping into pathological, dangerous and violent drifts that fuel a pressing question: what if the atrocious act of an individual were the extreme, failed and perverse gesture of conforming at all costs to an imaginary collective that is not shared? How responsible would we all be for each other's actions?
"It's a show about unhealthy relationships that can lead to dangerous and pathological drifts. We tried to enter the mind of an individual to understand what can lead an apparently innocent human being to inhumanity - explains the author - But the anniversary is also a successful attempt to address a strong theme of contemporary society with a lightness, without leaving aside the depth of feelings."
Winner of the "Italy of Visionaries, Theater Artifice section of Como" 2015 and "Creative Offer" 2016 from the Theater of Temperies in Calcara, the show was selected for the theatrical circuit in Campania of off spaces "Nome Cose Teatri, edition" 2016 promoted by the Bellini theaters in Naples, Civico 14 in Caserta, and Solot in Benevento, and restaged in 2022 to participate in "Milano Off Fringe" and "Catania Off Fringe."
