Final of the fourth edition of the National Prize "Serra-Campi Flegrei", sponsored by the Municipality of Naples. Appointment at the Teatro Serra, in Fuorigrotta at Via Diocleziano 316, on Monday, October 7th at 8:30 pm with the eight finalists in the Actors and Authors sections, selected by the jury composed of Enrico Basile, Mario Cangiano, Fabiana Fazio, Salvatore Felaco, Luisa Guarro, Vladimir Marino, Joao Santos, Michele Schiano di Cola. At the final evening, an Honorary Jury composed of personalities from the entertainment, culture and journalism fields, will elect the winners of each of the two competition sections, who will receive a prize of 500 euros and will award a Special Prize to participate in the theatrical season of the Artemia Cultural Center in Rome, twinned with the space in Campi Flegrei.
At the center of the artistic proposals are our time and its dramas, emigration, euthanasia, the Big History and the small human stories that live in its shadow, told through satire, comedy, drama, poetry.
The protagonists of the evening for the Actors competition: Ilaria Romano with the monologue "Thom Pain" by Will Eno, Carmen Del Giudice with "San Genesio" written by Alessandro Paschitto, Valerio Lombardi performing "Er fattaccio" by Americo Giuliani and Riccardo Marotta with the text "A question of life or death", bittersweet reflections on choices and destiny, of which he is also the author.
The Authors are Viola Di Caprio with "End of life", a irreverent satire on our time and its impositions, Alessio Palumbo with "Not her" confessions about illness and love inspired by reality and Marco Maffei with the story in hendecasyllabic verse "Lost words. El Alamein, 1942".
Competing as Author and Actress is Giulia Nemiz with "For faith or for love", a story freely inspired by the story of a Syrian shipwreck survivor in the Mediterranean, fleeing from war.
The finalists of the 2024 edition
Ilaria Romano, 23 years old, was born in the province of Avellino. She has a degree in Linguistic Mediation and Culture from the University "l'Orientale" of Naples and started attending theater workshops at the age of 13, graduating from the Accademia Mediterranea di Mimodramma. She studied acting, Commedia dell'Arte, dramaturgy, mime and contemporary dance with important Italian and foreign masters at the Teatro Bellini in Naples, the ICRA Project, the ON Teatro Formazione Cultura, the Accademia Minima, the Ealing University, the Pina Bausch Foundation. She is part of the "Ensemble Laviko" company in Naples.
Carmen Del Giudice, 23 years old, from the Vesuvian area, studies Languages and Modern Cultures at the University "Federico II". As a student at the Classical Theater High School, she worked at the Archaeo-theater in Pompeii, continuing her training at the Teatro Bellini in Naples. She participated in productions of ancient theater at the Greek Theater of Syracuse and at the Domus Ars in Naples and contemporary theater, in particular at the Teatro Tram in Naples. In 2023 she was a finalist in the "Director with La A" Award with "Ranagar's birthday".
Valerio Lombardi, 28 years old, Neapolitan, actor, mime, gymnast, juggler, trained at the Teatro Tasso and the Icra Project in Naples and then perfected his skills in Italy (Teatro Nazione in Genoa and the Nico Pepe Academy of Dramatic Art in Udine) and the United States (Jentzen Technique and Lawson Studios). He experiments in different fields: advertising, music videos, cinema, narrative voice for exhibitions and art paths. In his repertoire, ancient myths, the great classics of English and French theater, Pirandello. In "Un posto al sole" he plays a Camorra lieutenant.
Riccardo Marotta, 33 years old, Neapolitan, Second Level Master in Theater Pedagogy and Didactics at the University "Suor Orsola Benincasa", Diploma from the International Center La Cometa in Rome, assistant director in the Compagnia del Sole. He founded the association "Fare Arte e Cultura", works with the video-agency Meshow, collaborates with the Festival della Filosofia in Magna Grecia, organizes theatrical visits in art and archaeological sites between Italy and Greece. A small criminal in Gomorrah, he has studied and been directed by internationally renowned names in theater and circus. In 2016 he won the Corto Shortlab.
Viola Di Caprio, 45 years old, from Salerno, degree from the University of Salerno in Law, Foreign Languages ??and Literatures, mezzo-soprano graduated from the Conservatory "Giuseppe Martucci". Commedia dell'Arte has been the common thread of her studies, cultivated with masters of the discipline in France with the Compagnie du Faux-Col and in Italy. Special Mention at the "Sipario Italian Authors" Prize 2018 in Milan for the "Schizophrenic monologue" with which she won, as Best Actress, at the Roma Fringe Festival 2019.
Alessio Palumbo, 36 years old, Neapolitan, sound engineer and lover of electronic music, developed a passion for the stage and writing, which he deepened by following masterclasses and acting courses at the Accademia La Ribalta in Naples and the Accademia artisti in Rome. Attentive to social issues, in 2023 he participated in the short film about workplace deaths "La fune", written and directed by Stefania Rossella Grassi.
Marco Maffei, 61 years old from Novara, author of texts for exhibitions and shows; he has won the Literary Awards "Città di Novara", "Una palla di racconto" organized by the Caterpillar program of Rai Radio 2, the Scuola Holden and Edizioni Fandango, the "Lino Molinario", the "Codex Purpureus", the "Letteratura di Montagna Cortina d'Ampezzo" Prize and the Poetry Prize "Zeno" from the University of Salerno.
Giulia Nemiz, 31 years old, from Rome, mezzo-soprano and dancer. Bachelor's degree in Philosophy from the University "La Sapienza", Master's degree in Cognitive Sciences of Communication and Action from the University "Roma Tre", Diploma from the Academy Padiglione Ludwig and experiences at the Teatro Formiche di vetro and the Teatro Cometa OFF in Rome, Teatro Bellini in Naples, Centro Teatro Umbro in Gubbio, Actor Studio. Artist residencies in Poland at the Grotowski Institute and in Denmark at the Odin Teatret have given her access to the international course with Emma Dante, after which she started writing.
