Valerio Lombardi wins the Actors award with "Er fattaccio" by Americo Giuliani. Marco Maffei wins the Authors award with "Parole perse. El Alamein 1942". Special mention to Riccardo Marotta for his "Una questione di vita o di morte". New call for submissions in January.
The final of the National Prize "Serra-Campi Flegrei" endorsed by the City of Naples on October 7th was marked by drama, historical reenactment, and sharp irony, with Valerio Lombardi winning with "Er fattaccio" by Americo Giuliani in the Actors category, and Marco Maffei with "Parole Perse. El Alamein, 1942" in the Authors category. Special Mention to Riccardo Marotta for his "Una questione di vita o di morte", a humorous and bitter reflection on life and destiny, of which he is also the author, and will be included in the 2024/2025 program of the Artemia Cultural Center in Rome, twinned with the Flegrei space.
"It was wonderful to see so many young people committed to true theater, talented, and with a rare depth of soul and thought; they remind us that poetry still exists," commented actress and director Stefania Ventura, President of the Honorary Jury, composed by screenwriter and director Cristiano Esposito, poet Conni Celotto, civic activist Rosario Pugliese, journalists Tania Sabatino, Giovanna Manna and Edgardo Bellini, and film critic Giuseppe Borrone. "The evening was a triumph of talent and creativity, with extraordinary performances of exceptional artistic quality, which made every moment unforgettable. A sincere thank you to all those who made this edition possible: artists, organizers, judges. Your dedication has allowed to give new life to the theater scene, confirming the event as open to all, as the winner of the Authors section is over 35. We look forward to discovering new talents in the next edition, but we will have to wait a little: the call for the fifth edition of the "Serra-Campi Flegrei" Prize will be published in January 2025," said Pietro Tammaro and Mauro Palumbo, founders of the theater and promoters of the event.
Together with the winners, participants in the competition, characterized by attention to current events and social issues, included Ilaria Romano with the monologue "Thom Pain" by Will Eno, Carmen Del Giudice with "San Genesio" written by Alessandro Paschitto as Actors, Viola Di Caprio with "Fine life" and Alessio Palumbo with "To her not" as Authors, and Giulia Nemiz who participated in the dual role of interpreter and writer performing her "Per fede o per amore".

Valerio Lombardi, 28 years old, Neapolitan, actor, mime, gymnast, juggler, began his journey in 2010 at the Teatro Tasso, three years later he joined the Icra Project directed by Michele Monetta and Lina Salvatore. He continued his training in Italy and the United States: he attended workshops with Luciano Melchionna and Mimmo Borrelli in Naples, with Richard Lawson and Kimberly Jentzen in Los Angeles, with Elisabetta Pozzi, Mercedes Martini, Alberto Giusta, Francesca della Monica at the "Teatro Nazione" in Genoa and the Accademia d'Arte Drammatica "Nico Pepe" in Udine. He experiments in different areas: advertising, music video clips, narrating voices for exhibitions and art paths. In theater, he has been directed by Roberto Matteo Giordano, Maurizio Azzurro, Franco Nappi, Livia Bertè, Massimiliano Rossi, Margherita Romeo, Alexander Nordstörm, Adriano Falivene, Franco Nappi, Luciano Melchionna. In his repertoire, the revisitation of ancient myths, the great classics of English and French theater, Pirandello, Neapolitan theater, experimentation. In cinema, he played roles in "Permette? Alberto Sordi", directed by Luca Manfredi (Rai Fiction, Oceans Productions), "Un eretico in corsia" directed by Bruno di Marcello (Gothic Produzioni), and "Corsa abusiva" directed by Andrea Bifulco (Alchemia Production, E.S.T Production). He plays a mafia lieutenant in "Un posto al sole".
Marco Maffei, 61 years old from Novara, is a bank executive with a passion for travel, soccer, and books. Author of texts for exhibitions and shows, he has won national literary awards such as the "Città di Novara", "Una palla di racconto" by the Caterpillar program on Rai Radio 2, in collaboration with Scuola Holden and Fandango Editions, the "Lino Molinario", the "Codex Purpureus", the "Cortina d'Ampezzo Mountain Literature" Award, and the "Zeno" Poetry Award from the University of Salerno. As a prose author, he has also achieved significant placements at the "Cesare Pavese", "Dostoevskji", and "Il giorno di Joice" awards promoted by Corriere della Sera and Leggere magazine.
Riccardo Marotta, 33 years old from Naples, obtained a Master's degree in Theater Pedagogy and Didactics from the University "Suor Orsola Benincasa". A graduate of the International Center "La Cometa" in Rome, since 2014 he has been an assistant to director and actor Flavio Albanese of the Compagnia del Sole. Since 2010, he has collaborated as an actor, trainer, and director with the Festival of Philosophy in Magna Grecia. Since 2018, he has been part of Meshow, a video agency that specializes in showreels for actors. In 2021, he founded the cultural association FAC (Fare Arte e Cultura). He studied with Giles Smith, Natalia Zvereva, Nikolaj Karpov, Alan Woodhouse, Horacio Certok, Christian Burges, Julie Brochen, Flavio Albanese, Pierpaolo Sepe, Fabrizio Arcuri, Lisa Natoli, Alberto Bellandi, Lilli Cecere, Marco Vallarino, Valeria Benedetti Michelangeli, Francesco Saponaro, Enzo Moscato, Carrozzeria Orfeo, Emma Dante. He participated in clown seminars with masters such as Martin Pons (Cirque du Soleil) and Vladimir Olshansky. As an actor, he has been directed, in film and theater, by Pino Carbone, Claudio di Palma, Francesco Saponaro, Lorenzo Montanini, Daniele Nuccetelli, Lisa Ferlazzo Natoli, Andrea Baracco, Gigi Proietti, Mario Martone, Sergio Castellitto. A small-time criminal in seasons 3 and 4 of Gomorra, he directed theatrical walks in archaeological sites in Athens and southern Italy and in the complex of San Domenico Maggiore in Naples, as well as classical theater performances, science fiction, or dedicated to social issues. In 2015, he was nominated for best actor at the Roma Fringe Festival, and the following year, he won the Corto Shortlab for direction, in collaboration with Mauro Lamanna for "Crisis" by Francesco Colombo.
