A radio, two speakers, and a podcast to communicate with listeners. Inspired by the title of a famous collection by Spanish poet Pedro Salinas, "The Voice Owed to You" is an act of love, an antidote to every form of discrimination. A show about the voice as a vital and poetic political tool to tell the story of women, navigating the silences of the world, those silences that can also prove deadly. "Imagining dissecting the 'female issue' within the time of a show is impossible. However, this must not be an excuse to postpone such an important appointment," say the performers.
It is neither a j'accuse nor a sociological study, but a poetic space led by two twin sisters who, questioning themselves and the listeners, find the courage to expose themselves lovingly, to tell their stories and try to impact and soften the thick psychological ‘crust’ that too often forms between the will to 'be accepted' and today's society that would still have women, if not explicitly imprisoned, certainly dormant. A state of affairs that seems like a social Moloch, a giant composed of millions of small and silent personal stories, accepted tragedies because they are not perceived as such – sometimes proving deadly – to be shattered through poetic word, a maieutic engine, creating new perspectives. "As a man, I decided to undertake this process because I want to understand if there are also in me the germs, carried by years and years of 'education,' of discrimination against women," the director emphasizes.
