"CARA KITTY.....Anna Frank"
Theatre
Sure, here is the translation of the text from Italian to English:
The Diary of Anne Frank begins in June 1942, one of the many gifts for her 13th birthday. Until then, her life still had some resemblance to that of any other girl her age. And yet, at just 13, Anne knows and speaks with extreme naturalness the language of the persecuted: she knows that she and her family must wear the Jewish star, that they cannot go to public places, that they cannot take trams. And yet, despite the fact that “the good times are over” after the German invasion, Anne writes in her diary, the war, the Germans, and the danger, in June '42 she can still forget them occasionally and live quite joyfully eating ice cream, biking, flirting with classmates, studying Greek mythology. But until the summer, when her father Otto, foreseeing a worsening of the situation of the Jews in occupied Holland, seriously considers the opportunity to seek a “hidden accommodation” for himself and his family, a hiding place where, on July 6 of the same year, the Frank family, the Van Daan family, and the dentist Dussel will shut themselves in for two years, never leaving, never looking out the windows, visited only by the faithful friends who know the secret of the revolving bookcase, bringing food, books, news from the outside. In that hiding place, they live peeling and cooking potatoes, arguing, listening to the English radio, between alternatives of fear and hope; obsessed by the deprivation of food, boredom, the endless problems of forced confinement. It is in this waiting of exasperated adults that a trifle makes them start, that Anne finds herself with her problems of a girl growing up and transforming, inevitably feeling suffocated between the lack of free air, the monotonous adult conversations, feeling misunderstood and abandoned to herself, to her own fear and boredom on some days, on others becoming gentle and cheerful, suddenly reconciled with the world. And her diary is once again a faithful daily chronicle, the logbook of this motionless ship in the center of Amsterdam, slowly sinking without knowing it...
She, the only child among adults, proves to be the only adult, the only one somehow willing to die: the only one seeking, in the meaning of death, something that is not purely horror or sorrow.
The only one trying to look beyond herself, the only one searching for a universal meaning in her own story.
