Becoming a woman in the province by uncovering the signs, silences, and dictates of a secular society. This is the theme of "Double Mirror" by Anita Mosca, on stage with Isabella Mosca Lamounier. Feather and crash. Laughter and tears. Poetry and grotesque drama, set in the Vesuvius area of the 1980s, to tell the story of the relationship between a mother and a daughter during the various stages of their lives. A dialogue woven with words, live music—with classical and electric guitar, ūd, and tambourines—and graphic signs where the proxemics of a mother perpetuating the millennial legacies of female models intertwines with the disjointed and clumsy attempts at rebellion of a daughter chasing her own self-determination, paying high prices in terms of dignity and psychophysical integrity.

In front of the audience, a living mirror materializes, in which the femininity of one is reflected in the other, revealing that cursed inevitable relationship that still exists in certain contexts between being a woman and shame, femininity, and scandal. The play presents archetypal characters, with a contaminated language, imprisoned in the double mirroring Mother-Father, Mother-Daughter, Father-Daughter that embody the struggle of autonomous choice in a narrow-minded environment and the incommunicability and unspeakability of patriarchal families with their taboos on affection, corporeality, emotions, sexuality, love, and self-perception.

"Presenting a comprehensive theater project as an author, director, and performer is a tortuous and complex challenge, yet it is part of our tradition from Scarpetta to De Filippo, Viviani, Ruccello, to Moscato, to whom I irreverently feel I belong," says the playwright, who puts the teachings of this 'school' at the service of fragile figures but capable of telling the universal struggle of self-determination in a suffocating provincial context.
