We are in a pub, it's almost closing time when, with a vigorous ringing of the door, a man enters. It's the 1970s in a small Swiss town and the newcomer has come all the way from Russia, convinced that he will find important answers in that place about the disappearance, which happened a few years earlier, of his daughter. "It is a dramatic show that starts as a comedy; a thriller that keeps the audience on the edge of their seats, all played out on the confrontation between these two men, two fathers, who find themselves having to make choices they never imagined for their children's salvation," say the authors. What would you do if your daughter's life depended on the death of another innocent child? And if it were up to you to choose who lives and who dies? Face to face more with their destinies than with themselves, the two men will find themselves confronting their past, which will slowly emerge in a crescendo of suspense and twists, revealing a reality far removed from what it seems. Ending with a classical tragedy.
The authors - Luca Cicolella and Igor Chierici began working together in 2011 under the direction of Jurij Ferrini for the "Compagnia Progetto URT". In 2016, thanks to the support of the Municipality of Genoa and Porto Antico Spa, they debuted with "The Legend of 1900", the first event of what would become the "Sea Stories Festival", an annual summer series that promoted the Barge Island of the Porto Antico as a theatrical venue, attracting enthusiasts and people fond of the city and its port. This reputation allowed the duo to participate in the "Theatrical Festival of Borgio Verezzi" - which they won in 2018 with "Moby Dick" - and the "Cervo Festival". In subsequent years, they added to their repertoire ancient and modern classical texts, such as "The Cosmicomics" by Italo Calvino, staged at the National Theater of Genoa in 2020, "Showtime" of 2022, and Goldoni's "The Lovers" in 2024. In May 2022, still at the National Theater of Genoa, they played Oberon and Puck in "A Midsummer Night's Dream" directed by Sandro Baldacci. In 2024, they received great critical and public acclaim with "Hamlet, King of Denmark", a site-specific performance for the Diocesan Museum of Genoa, funded by the Municipality.
