Con "Pesca Viva" a Procida un progetto per l’oro blu

The sea, its culture, its future. These are the central elements of the three-year “Pesca Viva” program which values the sea through conscious choice, promoted by the Consorzio Pescato Procidano in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture of Food Sovereignty and Forests (MASAF) and financed by the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF) as part of the National Three-Year Program (PNT) 2025-27. The appointment is at the Port of Procida on Friday, November 21 at 11:00 AM at the "Albatros" restaurant with a launch gastronomic event curated by chef Carlo Coscione.

“Screenings in the area have revealed difficulties within the sector, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises, which are most affected by the devaluation of fish products in distribution markets,” says Antonio Veneziano, Honorary President of the Consortium, outlining the guidelines of a proposal that encourages the consumption of "zero-mile" fish through initiatives of dissemination, awareness, and training.

From climate change, which affects reproduction cycles and migratory flows, to infrastructural needs, from fish cleaning and filleting techniques to traditional recipes, the program aims to create opportunities for dialogue among fishermen, biologists, restaurateurs, and final consumers – particularly young people – to develop services and processes that promote the rediscovery of marine heritage and the spread of eating habits that respect seasonality, size, correct fishing and farming methods, and diverse consumption, to alleviate pressure on the most sought-after species – such as tuna or swordfish – to protect biodiversity. The organizational partner is the AR.TU.RO. Cooperative.
