Art & photography
Creating art for the group cchiùArt, which opens on Saturday, February 28th at 5:30 PM with the eponymous exhibition at the Church of Santa Croce and Purgatorio in Piazza Mercato, Naples, means above all succeeding in creating something authentic to reflect on the difficult role of today’s artist, who is always striving to awaken consciences.
The analysis of everyday experiences is laden with the countless sensory perceptions we are subjected to by a system that incessantly develops communications, diversified in forms and codes. It is the tension towards the dark side of things, the origin of the investigation into primordial aspects, that engages the artists, who, with this exhibition, analyze the dilemma of truth and falsehood in order to explore the complicated territories of human experiences.
Curated by Marilena Marotta and organized by cchiùArt, the exhibition (open until April 5th, from Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM) presents itself as a true investigation into all the shades of human nature, addressing the joys and anxieties of existence with the aim of leaving an authentic testimony through the works, starting from the awareness that the perfect human does not exist. Through their stylistic and conceptual demands, the 18 artists in the group confront each other to contribute, each with their own style, language, or technique: from the ceramics of Laura Correale to the photographs of Manlio De Pasquale and Antonio Mercadante, to the paintings of Amir Sabetazar, Vishka Sabetazar, Nic Quinto, Delia Ferreri, Ilaria Auriemma, Maurizio Cascella and Marilena Marotta, both poets, to the Instant Image of Sara Missaglia, to the drawings of Christophe Mourey, to the videos of Sophia J Wagstaff, to the poetic works of Antonio Messina, Rikki P., Vincenzo Minichini, and Marco Fiore, and finally the design of Mario Biscetti. An interesting mix of art that investigates the most pressing themes, the fears that loom, the degree of exacerbation of daily life, the violent nature, uncontrollable science, art that is no longer accessible and increasingly governed by market logic, addressing subjects according to each one’s priorities, hurling the depths of the “crisis” into the most disturbing aspects or representing it with violent contrasts and colors, up to the path of escape from an unbearable reality, taking refuge in the enchanted paradises of imagination. The artists commit themselves with dedication to aspects of a shared encounter with oneself, to recover a historical identity as a mode of meditation that indeed requires a declaration of life. “We are fascinated," they explain, "by the human condition, its changes, its movements, its continuously borrowed questions about existence. Metamorphosis, transformation, evolution/involution, and revolution are the new humanism that sees man as the profound point of reference. We believe in free and independent Art that continually experiments with new forms and techniques.” cchiùArt presents itself as a forge of ideas where fervent creatives express themselves to explore all the possibilities of the complicated contemporary reality.
The group proposes an active program in dialogue with the territory and interaction with the public during the exhibition period:
On Saturday, March 7, the manifesto and catalog of cchiùArt will be presented. The texts and preface of the catalog are edited by Andrea Buonfino. On Saturday, March 14, there will be a day of Action Draw, during which Christophe Mourey will create, at the request of visitors, drawings representing beloved objects, which will then be gifted to them. Illustrations that will also be accompanied by a poem. Instead, on Saturday, March 21, titled “Portraits of Authors,” will be dedicated to photography and live drawing. And on Saturday, March 28, a reading of the poems of cchiùArt will take place.
