Museo Civico Archeologico

The museum is located on the ground floor of the Ducal Palace and consists of a chronological exhibition in which the exhibits are on display horizontally. It is state-owned and comes from the excavations on the hill of the Old Cemetery. The exhibition illustrates the excavations conducted by the Superintendence for Archaeological Heritage of Salerno between 1973 and 1996 on the Old Hill Cemetery of Bisaccia. They have been brought to light from a vast necropolis, in use between the end of the seventh century and the late ninth century BC. To guide the visitor to understand the exhibits, there are descriptive captions for each object and a 3D animated video that reconstructs the settlement of the Old Cemetery, the life in the prehistoric times area and explanatory informational panels are located with the three exhibition halls.
