Live music
Ferrara Under the Stars 2025 presents Porridge Radio
Friday, June 13, 2025 - Courtyard of the Estense Castle (FE)
*Opening:* Lamante
After ten years of activity and acclaimed albums like *Every Bad* and *Waterslide, Diving Board, Ladder to the Sky,* on January 15th, Porridge Radio officially announced their disbandment. Along with the announcement, the band revealed the release of their final EP, *The Machine Starts to Sing,* scheduled for February 21, 2025. Frontwoman Dana Margolin stated: "This is the last new music from Porridge Radio and marks the end of the band; it means a lot to us. We're excited for you to hear it. This band has been our life; we are a family now. These will be our last concerts. Thank you so much to everyone for listening to us." The news was met with great sadness by their many fans worldwide, who will now have the chance to see them live one last time and celebrate the great impact this band has had on the independent music scene. Born in Brighton in 2015, the band started as a DIY project, playing in small venues and developing a musical identity strongly characterized by Margolin's intense vocals and the use of dissonant guitars and ethereal synthesizers. Their debut album, *Rice, Pasta and Other Fillers* (2016), immediately showcased raw talent and an experimental attitude. However, it was with *Every Bad* (2020) that the group gained international recognition (including a Mercury Prize nomination), thanks to tracks like *Sweet* and *Lilac,* which highlighted the band's ability to blend vulnerability with powerful sound. Margolin has often described her songwriting as a cathartic process: "Writing songs is my way of understanding the world and dealing with emotions," she stated in an interview. This authenticity has helped make the band a staple of the contemporary indie scene, influencing numerous emerging artists with their unique sound, capable of merging post-punk, indie rock, and deeply emotional and engaging lyrics. These Italian dates represent a unique opportunity for fans to bid farewell to the band and experience their overwhelming live energy one last time.
**LAMANTE** is the musical project of Giorgia Pietribiasi, born in 1999, and raised in the city of Schio (VI). She is a highly eclectic and unconventional artist who started playing and writing music at a very young age. After years of demos, self-produced music, and concerts around Italy, Lamante launched her channel on digital platforms in June 2023 and released "L'Ultimo Piano," the track that brought her to the finals of the 34th edition of the Musicultura Festival, followed by "Come volevi essere," the song that opened the door to her first album, *In Memoria di*, produced by Taketo Gohara and released by Artist First in May 2024. Lamante's sound fluctuates between Northern folklore and the deep interior of Africa, managing to merge the sounds of two distant hemispheres. Her voice is dark, dry, and sharp, like the peasant women in her family. It is no coincidence that Giorgia loves to retrace her origins and family memory with her voice. In her lyrics and, more generally, in her artistic vision, there is a desire to render events from her memory (and sometimes even a more collective memory): heroic myths, photographs of a human legacy, visual and descriptive texts of an atmosphere (more than a mood), which many would describe as "tribal matriarchal."
