ARTEVENTO annuncia il programma di "One Sky World" AUTUNNO 2024
Art & photography
Cultural
After the success of the first edition, ARTEVENTO - the longest-running International Kite Festival on the Planet - scheduled in Cervia every spring since 1981, returns on stage from October 11th to 22nd with the autumn spin-off entitled "One Sky One World" which concludes the 44th edition with a triple event to delve into the main themes of its mission:
- the dissemination of kite cultures as intangible cultural heritage of humanity;
- the promotion of peace, inter-culture, and environmental sustainability.
A leader in organizing international events, exhibitions, performative shows, wind installations in public spaces, educational workshops, courses for adults, artist residencies, and photographic reportage on the kite theme, since 1981 ARTEVENTO has been organizing in Cervia the eponymous event now recognized as the world's longest-running "International Kite Festival", taking care of itinerant, educational, and informative activities at the first Kite Museum in Europe and playing an excellent role as a driving force for the development of Wind Art and for the promotion of the kite as a paradigm of sustainable creativity and its environmentalist philosophy.
Supported by the Media Partnership with RaiNews, Rai Pubblica Utilità and TGR, the event - on the occasion of the autumn appointment - will dialogue with the Ministry of Culture, PerugiAssisi Foundation, ResQ, Mediterranea, Operazione Colomba and many other institutional and civil voices, through a rich calendar of new events and great news that will unfold in 12 days of activities, workshops, exhibitions, and breathtaking shows for adults and children, with the presence of special guests and big names from the international kite world.
To open the festivities will be the kite flight on Lungomare D'Annunzio Beach on Friday, October 11th, coloring the skies of Cervia from 10.00 am. Among the most awaited professionals this fall is Albert Trinks, the internationally renowned Dutch kite flyer author of extraordinary "edo" kites inspired by Japanese tradition and dedicated to the defense of human rights. In addition to his most famous work, inspired by the portrait "Afghan Girl", Trinks will also present two kites inspired by the young Sharbat Gula, the refugee immortalized by the American photojournalist Steve McCurry. The Dutch kite flyer fits perfectly into the peaceful and supportive context of the Festival, which this autumn has a special dedication to Japan and its noble art.
In fact, the focus of this edition will be the new exhibition "Around the World in 80 Kites - special Japan", the special episode of the exhibition curated by the Kite Museum, set in the Magazzino del Sale Tower which will open on Friday, October 11th at 6:00 pm and will be open to the public until October 22nd. The aim of the exhibition is to pay tribute to the twinning just established between the Kite Museum and the Tako no Hakubutsukan in Tokyo, as well as the acquisition of a unique collection of works from the City of Nagoya.
The exhibition explores the ancient Japanese art of kite flying, presenting 2 absolute novelties that recognize the historic Cervia Festival as an indispensable international reference point for the protection of kite cultures around the world. The first novelty concerns the donation by the President of the Japan Kite Association and Director of the Kite Museum of Tokyo Masaaki Modegi of more than 20 works from his collection to the artistic director of ARTEVENTO Caterina Capelli, as a sign of support and good luck for being chosen as a "witness" in terms of safeguarding the knowledge and traditional practices of kite flying by the Central Institute for Intangible Heritage of the Ministry of Culture.
The second novelty concerns the acquisition of the only existing complete collection of "musical" kites - koryu dako", that is, "of ancient tradition" from the City of Nagoya, known for their original insect shape and for producing a sound similar to the chirping of cicadas in flight through the vibrations of the bamboo Aeolian harp that characterizes this model. The collection gathers the complete works of the elderly Master Masaaki Sato, who has decided to entrust his production to Capelli, rewarding the passion of the Festival director who sees in the kite of the legendary Japanese Master also the symbol of environmental and biodiversity conservation.
The Saturday of this first weekend - Saturday, October 12th - will be marked by artists and champions of acrobatic kite flying, who will delight the audience by flying their magnificent wind works. In addition to the aforementioned Dutch kite flyer Albert Trinks - who for the first time at ARTEVENTO will fly the new kite dedicated to the memory and denunciation of the horrors of war - numerous internationally renowned professionals will arrive in the Kite Capital of the World. From France, Ramlal Tien will arrive in Cervia with his installation "Seeds of Peace", along with Gerard Clement, a pioneer of international kite flying and author of the spectacular kite "St. George and the Dragon". Not to be missed are Alicja Szalska and Szymon Ka, directly from Poland, together with the most beloved Italian artists such as Fausto Marrocu, Vita Giacopelli and Maurizio Guastini, authors of the most spectacular "Wind Gardens". The beach party will also be attended by the acrobatic flight champion and president of STACK Italia Italian Acrobatic Flight Federation Sara Rizzetto, along with the multiple acrobatic flight champion Giovanni Govoni and the authors of wind installations dedicated to the circus Team EX3. The pilots of the "giants of the sky" like Edo Borghetti and Simone Cabianca, representing Peter Lynn Kites with the original zoomorphic kites produced by the historic New Zealand factory, will also provide a fabulous backdrop to the day's program.
The afternoon of Saturday, October 12th will be dedicated to literature and meetings with important authors. At 5:30 pm on Lungomare D'Annunzio Beach, the writer Andrea Fantini will talk about his book "A hot autumn. Ecological crisis, climate emergency, and other unnatural disasters" (Codice Editore). The presentation will be followed by a book signing.
The same day at 9:00 pm there will be "In stubborn and contrary direction" - Dimaco in Concert, a tribute to the great singer-songwriter Fabrizio de Andrè that will liven up the evening on the beach of Cervia. In case of bad weather, the concert will be moved to the Magazzino del Sale.
The third event that will close the One Sky One World weekend will be the Peace Parade, scheduled for Sunday, October 13th - the day when the One Sky One World International Day is celebrated - and organized for the first time in collaboration with the PerugiAssisi Foundation to consecrate ARTEVENTO's recent joining of the "peace table" of the historic march for human rights. The event will see the meeting of civil society, NGOs, and associations with the aim of paying particular attention to the themes of sea rescue, hospitality, inter-culture, and solidarity.
For this reason, ARTEVENTO chooses as the messenger of the day's message, a special guest of honor. It is the carpenter and fisherman Vito Fiorino, rescuer of 47 Eritrean refugees in distress during the tragedy at sea on October 3, 2013, which cost the lives of 368 people in Lampedusa. The protagonist of the docu-film "North of Lampedusa" by director Alessandro Rocca, a member of the NGO ResQ, Fiorino is the ideal voice to open the Parade which, starting from Piazza Garibaldi, will reach the beach accompanied by the music of the Senegalese percussion ensemble LOCOMOTUMM Tidiane Diop Sabar Section of the Association TUMM e.t.s.
