After the poetic strength of Patti Smith and the Sicilian tradition sung by Carmen Consoli, the latest three shows of the season signed by Neri Marcorè, Flavia Rezza and Antonio Mastrella, and Serena Dandini arrive at the Ostia Antica Festival.
On Saturday, 21st September, Neri Marcorè brings back the spirit and style of Giorgio Gaber to the stage. An innovator, an inventor of an original artistic form as the theater-song, a desecrator of myths and trends, a poet of words whose thoughts are more current than ever, Mr. G was this and much more. Neri Marcorè brings him back to life in Ostia Antica with monologues and songs, from the most famous to the lesser-known ones, through his sharp irony and mocking mask.
Rezza-Mastrella arrive on Tuesday, 24th September with the show "Amistade": a multimedia work - co-produced by the Sardinian Theater - that uses new technologies, videomapping, and projections. Sound fragments will tell of concerts and thoughts of Fabrizio De André, which alternate and blend with the concepts, voice, and body of Antonio Rezza on stage with Ivan Bellavista.
A work of contamination between the poetic of Fabrizio De André and that of Fratto_X, addressing plagiarism through a disruptive narrative, where absence performs and the body wrapped in luminous trails creates anthropomorphic figures.
“AMISTADE, when it was not yet AMISTADE, was proposed by Dori Ghezzi with the tenacity that characterizes her. It is a work where our rebellion joins Fabrizio's for a posthumous but always current alliance”: explain Flavia Mastrella and Antonio Rezza.
Serena Dandini takes the stage on Saturday, 28th September with her "Vieni avanti cretina. Next!", a production signed by Teatro Carcano in collaboration with Mismaonda. The show - with a somewhat daring title but in line with the times in which female emancipation seems still far away - pays homage to the female "stupidity" in comedy, another field always dominated by men.
With this theatrical format, Dandini simply puts an end to the Ginger Rogers syndrome that has to do everything Fred Astaire does, but in heels and walking backward. For centuries - she says - they have called us stupid, and now we can deliberately define ourselves as such, in a night of comedy entirely performed by women who draw inspiration for the title from the line of the famous variety show 'Come forward, idiot!', made famous by the De Rege Brothers. It's a game, a provocation... because remember, behind a great idiot, there is often a too intelligent woman”.
Accompanying her on the stage of the Roman Theater are Federica Cacciola, Cristina Chinaglia, Marianna Folli, Laura Formenti, Annagaia Marchioro, Germana Pasquero, Gioia Salvatori, and Le Hostress.
The RTI Teatro Romano Ostia Antica group, created for the management and enhancement of the Ancient Roman Theater of Ostia, is made up of companies with a decade of experience in programming and realizing entertainment activities and managing scenic structures and cultural venues: Bass Culture srl as the lead company, GE.SER.T. e C. srl, Beat Production, Knock srl, and Mania Teatro srls. Thanks to the versatility of the various companies involved, all performing arts can be brought to the stage. As evidence, here are some shows and events, also of long duration, in the context of the "Cultural Places" like: the Archaeological Park of Egnazia; Schuster Park at the UNESCO site of San Paolo Fuori le Mura; Historic Villas of Rome, including Villa Ada; Montemartini Museum - Basilica of Maxentius.
