“Ius Scholae, A Battle for Civilization”
With Simona Malpezzi, Anna Granata, Aissa Basma, and Maria Novella De Luca
On Tuesday, October 29, at 6:30 PM, an event titled "Ius Scholae, A Battle for Civilization" will be held at the Feltrinelli bookstore on Via Appia Nuova 427 in Rome. The event is dedicated to the debate on citizenship linked to educational paths in Italy. It will be an occasion to discuss the current relevance of this topic in the Italian political and social context, evaluating the concrete benefits that the introduction of Ius Scholae could bring in terms of inclusion, justice, and democracy.
The meeting is part of the Feltrinelli thematic series, scheduled from October 3 until the end of the month, "A Hero of Our Time": talks, presentations, books, authors, and school meetings to support educational teaching as an indispensable tool for growth and to promote the joy of study and discovery while rethinking educational models.
Leading the thematic month is the new message of Feltrinelli's communication campaign "Reading Teaches You to Read," which views reading as a tool for analyzing and understanding reality. In this creative approach, the title of Mikhail Yuryevich Lermontov's novel, "A Hero of Our Time," is transformed into a snapshot taken in a classroom, with the teacher’s figure emerging prominently.
The event will feature Simona Malpezzi, parliamentarian and teacher, Anna Granata, professor of intercultural pedagogy at the University of Milan-Bicocca and author of "Girls with Wallets. A Pedagogy of Female Emancipation" (Carocci), and Aissa Basma, activist, educator, and author of "Borders" (Giappichelli Editore). The debate will be moderated by Maria Novella De Luca, journalist for Repubblica.
