Guglielmo Marconi: Seeing the Invisible
VIVE - Vittoriano and Palazzo Venezia
November 8, 2024 - April 25, 2025
The exhibition features documents, photographs, period films, objects, and interactive and multimedia installations to portray Marconi as you've never seen him before.
From November 8, 2024, to April 25, 2025, the spaces of the VIVE Institute - Vittoriano and Palazzo Venezia (Sala Zanardelli and Sala Regia) will host Guglielmo Marconi: Seeing the Invisible, an exhibition promoted by the Ministry of Culture and organized and produced by Cinecittà and Archivio Luce. The exhibition presents hundreds of documents, photos, artifacts, and films from renowned national and international archives to delve into the human side and entrepreneurial adventure of the Bolognese inventor. A tribute to the Italian genius who changed the world. A celebration not only of the lord of Wireless and father of Radio but also of the curious and visionary young man.
Through various media and languages, the exhibition—divided into eight sections—guides visitors back through the life of Guglielmo Marconi. From his youth to the transatlantic conquest, the exhibition highlights his profile as a startupper and statesman, exploring the chapters that brought him to international prominence as well as more private ones, without neglecting his connection to the sea or his extraordinary legacy, still so tangible today.
The exhibition is created with the sponsorship and contribution of the Marconi.150 National Committee and in collaboration with the Guglielmo Marconi Foundation.
Sponsors of the exhibition include ENEL, Fincantieri, and Terna, with support from the Leonardo Foundation, which contributed with the documentary "Elettra, Marconi's Laboratory Ship," and with the development of multimedia content also created thanks to artificial intelligence systems.
As many as 34 entities are lending materials for the exhibition, including the Bodleian Libraries of Oxford, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Historical Museum of Communication in Rome, the Academy of Lincei, the Navy, the Italian Army, and the Italian Air Force.
