CHRONOGENICS

From May 30th to June 12th, 2025, Medina Art Gallery presents the solo exhibition by Francesco Grigori Di Bene titled "CHRONOGENICS." The curatorial text and presentation are by Grazia Mocci, at the gallery located at Via Angelo Poliziano 4-6.

The opening event will take place on Friday, May 30th at 6:00 PM at the gallery in Via Angelo Poliziano 4-6.

Francesco Grigori Di Bene's Chronogenics project is a photographic exploration that focuses on the face as a genetic and spiritual repository, a surface bridging what we will become and what we have been. Through a series of black-and-white portraits, the artist stages the silent dialogue between generations—between fathers, mothers, and children who reflect each other, sometimes clearly, sometimes in mysterious and hidden ways, as if a thin line connects the more elusive traits of identity.

Chronogenics arises from a profound need: to leave a mark of oneself in the world. If creative necessity is indeed a surrogate for the necessity to procreate, here the images seek resemblance, evoke it, even where it is invisible, constructing an affectionate geography made of eyes, facial lines, gestures, and shared memories. Leaving a legacy that is not only biological but also symbolic.

The exhibition goes beyond mere display, urging us to ask: what do we really leave behind? Which traces endure the erosive power of time and memory? Here, photography does not document but interprets. It is a form of procreation, and like a child, every image is born from the urgency for continuity, from the desire to remain. Artistic practice thus becomes an act of incarnation, transmission, of love.

Chronogenics is ultimately an archive of connections, a poignant reflection on identity as both a gift and a destiny, on being in time and through time. And on the beauty of being part of a narrative that precedes and surpasses us.
