Astratti, la mostra che celebra la libertà del colore
Art & photography
Here is the translation of the text from Italian to English:
There is a silent elegance that greets those who enter the Galleria Studio CiCo in the Roman district of Tomba di Nerone. The environment, essential and bright, becomes the perfect frame for "Abstracts," the contemporary art exhibition that from November 16 to December 1, 2025, explores abstraction as an aesthetic and spatial language.
The exhibition, curated by Cinzia Cotellessa, founder and director of Studio CiCo, offers an immersive journey where color becomes structure, material gains rhythm, and light becomes an integral part of the artwork. "Abstract art," explains Cotellessa, "represents a fundamental turning point in art history: the transcendence of figurative representation in favor of a language made of shapes, colors, and lines capable of conveying emotions, sensations, and concepts."
Abstraction as the space of the soul
The artworks on display provide the observer with an all-encompassing aesthetic experience, where the painting gesture becomes a mental architecture. From Kandinsky to Rothko, the history of abstraction has redefined the very idea of visual balance; "Abstracts" gathers this legacy and reinterprets it in a contemporary key, combining different yet kindred languages in terms of intensity and compositional rigor.
Two rooms, two dimensions of the visual
The exhibition pathway opens with a solo show by Pierpaolo Mancinelli in Room 1, where 23 new digital works explore the tension between order and chaos, light and matter. The artist transforms the digital medium into a living, vibrant surface that breathes in space like a physical presence.
In Room 2, the collective exhibition "Abstracts" brings together the works of Angelucci, Avvisati, Bacci, Cotellessa, Giannini, Pietrangeli, Ricci Piccirilli, Sacchetti, Uber, Van Saften, Virgili, and Zelli. A mosaic of materials and techniques—painting, collage, experiments on material supports—that interact with the natural light of the space, transforming the gallery into a place of contemplation and chromatic harmony.
Art as perceptual design
In Cotellessa's curatorial vision, abstract art is not just an expressive language but a form of emotional design: a way to inhabit color, to build through the gesture an architecture of gaze. Each work becomes an element of mental furnishing, a fragment that redefines space and atmosphere.
Thus, the Galleria Studio CiCo confirms its identity as a laboratory of contemporary aesthetics, capable of uniting art, design, and architectural sensitivity into a coherent and refined narrative.
