BENG, lo strano caso del caso risolto per caso
Theatre
On the occasion of the Contemporary Italian Dramaturgy Review EXPO - Contemporary Italian Theater, the show BENG! – The Strange Case of the Case Solved by Chance returns to the stage from February 10 to 12, this time at the Teatro Belli in Rome. The show is written by Leonardo Carducci, Alessandro Apostoli, Vittorio Allegra, Claudio Totino, Matteo Pascarella, Nicolò Gaetani, and Giacomo De Cataldo, who also directs.
There are stories so absurd and grotesque that they seem real. And when noir meets the sharpest comedy, a ruthless and irresistible narrative mechanism is born, capable of overturning every certainty.
Crime, passion, hope, desire, murky reflections on life that often flow into other reflections that are not always necessarily useful—all this is wrapped together to form the plot of the story that Lieutenant McCallaghan has been dragging behind him for a long time, between sips of whisky and puffs of cigarette.
Some would define it as an engaging story full of twists and turns that presents itself to the audience as a parody of that typical world of American crime fiction from the 70s, 80s, and even 90s, with shades of yellow-noir.
Some would say that it is also portrayed through biting and eccentric comedy, captivating images, and fascinating and entertaining visual and sound effects. All true, yes… but this story is much more. And in a world dominated by chaos and decay, when a heinous murder case that is practically impossible to solve begins to tighten its grip on the already fragile equilibrium of our stereotypical protagonists, only one can save them. The question is: are you ready to discover how?
