From September 19 to 27, Lake Bracciano will become one large photography gallery with the fourth edition of **Photofest Immagini sul Lago**. The 2026 edition is expanding, with thirteen photographic exhibitions, all free of charge, spread across the three lakeside towns and the MUSAM—Historical Museum of the Italian Air Force.

Photography will also be the focus of a series of engaging workshops and laboratories, as well as a photography marathon being held in the area for the first time. This year’s competition will once again offer photography-equipment shopping vouchers as prizes.

The organizing associations behind the event—**Il Lago Incantato** and **Il Vivaio delle Immagini**—have made a major commitment to the festival. The event has received official recognition from FIAF—the Italian Federation of Photographic Associations—as well as the patronage of the Lazio Region, the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, the municipalities of Bracciano, Trevignano Romano, and Anguillara Sabazia, and the Consorzio Lago Bracciano. The festival is being held in collaboration with APT Trevignano Romano, Proloco Anguillara Sabazia, and AssoCommercianti Bracciano.

The major photography festival will open on September 19, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. with an event open to everyone at the Consorzio Lago Bracciano, on the Giuseppe Argenti lakeside promenade in Bracciano. In the presence of the area’s mayors, the participating photographers will introduce their exhibitions. The event will include refreshments and a toast offered by Cantine Capitani, as well as a boat trip for all participants. The photographic exhibitions will also open on the same day.

“The 2026 edition,” comment Osvaldo Sponzilli and Michele Buonanni, “is particularly rich. We are starting with great enthusiasm, given the growing support from institutions and the public. The exhibitions address a wide variety of themes. We also believe that the concept of photography spread throughout the area, besides being an important tool for promoting the region, clearly highlights the strong spirit of collaboration behind Photofest.”

A week filled with photography and wide public participation is expected. The closing event will take place on Sunday, September 27, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Trevignano Romano, at the conference room of the Banca di Credito Cooperativo Provincia Romana, 2 Via IV Novembre.

The afternoon program will include a screening of the video **The Ameriguns**; an interview with Gabriele Galimberti, **“Where Wonder Is Born”**; an interview with photographer Yuliya Vassilyeva, **“A Photographic Journey Through Lakes, Landscapes, and Forms of Life”**; **“The Emotions of Birds,”** in which Michele Buonanni interviews Paolo Nicolai; and **“Erotica,”** a conversation with Ivana Galli. The awards ceremony for the Photography Competition and the Photography Marathon will follow.

## Workshops and Activities

**Genos – We Are Always One, but with Someone Else Before Us**
By Ivana Galli, September 19–27, IL VIALE caffè & bistrot, 72 Via della Rena, Trevignano Romano.

Through a photographic set open to everyone, the artist will create leporellos juxtaposing the faces of parents, children, siblings, and grandparents.

The images are completed only when joined together, revealing continuities and natural differences, memory and transformation, and universal questions such as: “Who resembles whom?” The aim is to create a contemporary family archive and reflect on how identifying features are transmitted, preserved, or changed. The archive will not merely be documentation, but also a critical device, a mirror for the community, and a trace for the future.

**Photography Marathon: “Water Is Life”**

An event open to the public aimed at promoting photography as a tool for observing, narrating, and interpreting the area. Participants are invited to explore, through the photographic medium, the theme of water as a vital, symbolic, and relational element.

## 2026 National Photography Competition: “Water Is Life”

Dedicated to water as the origin of life, a natural resource, an element of health and balance, and a symbol of the relationship between human beings and the environment, the competition attracted more than two hundred participants.

The 2026 edition introduced an original evaluation process in which artificial intelligence and human judgment were used at two separate stages. Artificial intelligence selected the ten finalist works. Subsequently, the competition jury chose the first-, second-, and third-place works from among those ten finalists.
