THE SCHEDULE OF EVENTS IS TAKING SHAPE
Less than a month is left for the eighth edition of the Milano Music Week, which will be held in Milan from November 18 to November 24. It is a week of concerts, DJ sets, artist interviews, panels, workshops, meetings, and special events that transform the city into the capital of music.
Milano Music Week is a project of the Municipality of Milan - Department of Culture, promoted by AssoConcerti, Assomusica, FIMI Italian Music Industry Federation, NUOVO IMAIE New Mutual Institute for Performing Artists and SIAE - Italian Society of Authors and Publishers, and organized by Butik s.r.l. Social Enterprise. For the third consecutive year, the Artistic Direction is entrusted to Nur Al Habash.
The extensive program of panels on current themes and future scenarios, training workshops, artist interviews, parties, concerts, and DJ sets organized by the promoters, partners, and sponsors of MMW is starting to take shape. Additionally, there will be a satellite program of appointments proposed by other entities throughout Italy related to the music sector.
The main district will be in the center of the city of Milan.
The event will have its headquarters at Castello Sforzesco, where from Tuesday to Friday there will be panels on the music business, artist interviews, and special performances. Among the first announced events is the talk "From Woodstock to Marrageddon" featuring Linus (presented by AssoConcerti), the interview with La Rappresentante di Lista (presented by Rockit), and a special live performance by Pop X in the evocative Sala della Balla within the Museum of Musical Instruments.
There will also be panels such as "How Music Spins: Platforms and Artist Compensation" (presented by NUOVO IMAIE), "The Artistic Value of Soundtracks" (presented by SIAE), "Tourism and Live Shows: A Union for New Tourism in Italy" (presented by Assomusica), and "Music Publishing Survey: Presentation of the First Research on Global and Italian Music Publishing" (presented by FEM, EMusa, ANEM, and SIAE).
The two Dazi of the Arco della Pace will also host an important part of the programming.
The Dazio di Ponente will be active from Tuesday to Sunday with panels, workshops, artist meetings, and events in the evening hours. The Milano Music Week website will reveal the first meetings: "A European Agenda for Music. How European Policies Influence Discography" (presented by FIMI), "The Music that Counts. But How Much Does It Count? The Sector Study on the Italian Record Industry" (presented by AFI and Fondazione Assolombarda), "What Are Independent Labels for in 2024?" (presented by PMI), "The AI Revolution in the Music Rights Market: Risks, Ethics, New Tools" (presented by SCF), and "How to Profit from a Track’s Master with Related Rights" (presented by Evolution).
The Dazio di Levante will be dedicated to evening parties, hosting both the opening party (Tuesday, November 19) and the closing party (Sunday, November 24).
Among the main locations involved in the central district are also the Parco Sempione Library, ideal for music-themed book presentations such as “Bassa Fedeltà. Musica lo-fi e fuga dal capitalismo” by Enrico Monacelli. The suggestive Acquario Civico of Parco Sempione will host the experience "Underwater Sounds: Sonorizing the Abyss. CAM Sugar x Acquario Civico," during which attendees will immerse themselves with headphones into post-war soundtracks dedicated to aquatic soundscapes (presented by Cam Sugar), and it will also welcome the screening of the film "Crossing the Bridge - The Sound of Istanbul," which tells the journey of German musician Alexander Hacke in search of the variety of Turkish music (presented by MUBI). Triennale Milano will be the main location for the opening day on Monday, November 18, and will host exclusive content on Thursday, November 21, organized together with some of MMW's Digital Content Creators like Deer Waves, with "How Does Milan Sound During the MMW? Live Workshop with Fenoaltea," and nss magazine, with the talk "Fashion Show Sounds."
As always, from the central district, music will reach the entire city. Among the first confirmed events are the Public Service Broadcasting concert at Arci Bellezza and the talk with the new Venetian music scene band Post Nebbia (presented by Fondamentali Podcast).
On the official website (under updates), more details about the first announced events can be discovered, and bookings for the events organized by MMW will be active from November 8 at www.milanomusicweek.it.
