From November 27 to January 28, 2025, the Area\B gallery in Milan will host the exhibition "The Possible Horizons": around twenty works, some of which are unpublished, focusing on the landscape and the distance between humans and nature, during a time of profound crisis between an increasingly "digital" world and a nature that pleads for attention and slowness.
As diverse and varied as existing landscapes are, so too can their representations be disparate and personal: in the exhibition, the rural and bucolic scenario coexists with the urban and artificial in the works of Irene Balia, Marco Bettio, Nado Canuti, Roberto Fanari, Laura Giardino, Filippo La Vaccara, Nicola Nannini, Massimiliano Zaffino, and Giorgio de Chirico.
The exhibited artists – who have always dedicated part of their artistic production to the landscape – are put into dialogue with the intention of encouraging viewers towards a broader awareness of beauty and a deeper connection to the surrounding environment, through the medium of painting.
The journey begins with the relationship with the animal world, often featured in Marco Bettio's works, moves to the rice workers in Nado Canuti's rural landscapes, then to the urban scenarios of Irene Balia and those dedicated to the city of Milan by Laura Giardino. The Sardinian nature in its wildest aspect is the focus of Roberto Fanari's new iron tapestries, while Massimiliano Zaffino presents a surrealist landscape where humanity develops its adaptability. Countryside and towns in the Po Valley region are the subjects for Nicola Nannini, while the Sicilian environment in dialogue with the Milanese world is portrayed by Filippo La Vaccara.
The exhibition also includes some preparatory sketches dedicated to the landscape by Giorgio de Chirico, testifying to the artist's interest in nature and its representation.
