Opening

via Maiocchi 15, Milan
The Maiocchi15 gallery will open the exhibition “The Four Seasons” on Wednesday, November 27, from 7 PM at via Achille Maiocchi 15 in Milan, a two-person exhibition featuring the works of Lebanese painter Rami Lazkani and Turin-based designer Andrea Olivazzo.
Lazkani will exhibit four subjects painted in acrylic on paper, where the house—both as a form and concept—serves as the starting point of his reflection on the theme: a constant movement rendered through a dense pattern—almost obsessive—that evolves in chromaticity, just as the colors of the seasons evolve.
Olivazzo will showcase his luminous sculptures made with anodized aluminum sheets, painted with water-based colors. For him as well, the choice of nuance supports the interpretation of the theme, adding to a very particular material treatment. For example, the designer lays flat the aluminum to interpret fallen leaves in autumn, while he bends the material sinuously to evoke the summer sea.
Both artists share a technical background in architecture; both seem interested in the "construction" of something: the typical Lebanese house becomes, for Lazkani, a tool to build a concept, while Olivazzo directly models a chosen theme through a three-dimensional form.
ANDREA OLIVAZZO
A luminous painting reminiscent of ice formed on a lake for winter. A red metal rose for spring. A sculpture inspired by sea waves for summer. A sculpture that evokes fallen leaves for autumn.
The artist seeks to explore different conceptions of time, the metaphysical and that of human perception, through four luminous sculptures inspired by the seasons of nature, in form and color: the white of winter ice, the red of spring flowers, the blue of sea waves, and, finally, the orange of fallen leaves in autumn.
RAMI LAZKANI
The Lebanese artist plays with words and their meanings, creating an analogy between the seasons and some symbolic concepts, reflecting on the cycle of life, the forces of nature, and the passage of time. The first subject explores the power of nature; the second focuses on desires, seen as collective power; the third is dedicated to the sea, symbolizing vastness and change; and the fourth narrates about offspring and inheritance, representing life renewed through birth and death.
F/Our/Sea/Sons
F in physics stands for force. One season is dedicated to the forces around us like nature.
"Our" is a possessive determiner used mostly for the first-person plural subject. The second season "Our" is dedicated to desires.
"Sea." The third season is dedicated to the Sea.
"Sons." The fourth season is dedicated to descendants. Flowers that die. Flowers that bloom.
F Our Sea Sons. F Hour Sees Sons. The force hour season.
The force hours see sons. The fourth hour sees sons.
The dialogue between the two artists is summarized in an elegant and refined setup, which will animate the gallery until December 24, 2024.
