October 2025 – Leonardo da Vinci has always embodied the ideal of a total artist: inventor, painter, anatomist, architect, visionary. In his studies on flight, particularly in the renowned Codex on the Flight of Birds (1505), art and science merge in the dream of overcoming gravity, of challenging limits, of "walking on earth while gazing at the sky." His approach to art is conceived as a striving upwards, a desire for knowledge that unites hand, eye, and mind. That same visionary drive and creative restlessness are at the heart of "In Alis Artis" – "On the Wings of Art," the international collective exhibition curated by art historian and critic Francesca Callipari. The exhibition, which will open on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at the MAS Museum of Art and Science in Milan (Via Quintino Sella 4), celebrates the restlessness, freedom, and profound curiosity that characterize the contemporary artist, today as in the Renaissance. The absence of an imposed theme for the works is a deliberate curatorial decision aimed at restoring centrality to the individual voice of the artist. As in Leonardo's codices, where technical ingenuity, aesthetic sensitivity, and imaginative freedom coexisted, Vinci's thought becomes a symbolic horizon for participants, an invitation to a "flight" without restrictions.
The selected works—ranging from painting, sculpture, digital art, AI, and photography—will inhabit this "open sky" with introspective, social, conceptual, or formal visions. The event, which will feature artists of various nationalities, highlights how contemporary art is polyphonic, fluid, and continually evolving.
