Sopravènto - il Festival Che Unisce la Musica e il Mare
Live music
After the great success of previous editions, from May 15 to 17 in Fano (Pesaro and Urbino), SOPRAVÈNTO returns, the festival that unites music and the sea, with the artistic direction of COLAPESCE and DIMARTINO, organized by Rebel House and the Municipality of Fano with the patronage of the Marche Cultura Foundation.
With the name Sopravènto— a term used in seamanship to indicate what is found on the side from which the wind blows— an homage is paid to the culture of this city and to those who proudly recount its traditions.
The festival offers a glimpse into the history of the area that hosts it, narrating its traditions and providing a dynamic view of the beauties of the Fano territory. To enhance the connection with the past, the discovery of the remains of the Basilica of Vitruvius, found just 100 meters from where Sopravènto comes to life, in the heart of the City of Vitruvius, plays a significant role.
For three days, the Marche city will transform into an open-air stage, hosting concerts, meetings, and moments of sharing in symbolic places of Fano's maritime heritage and its enchanting historical center. The festival comes to life and concludes with the traditional procession of the barchino, a small boat that, accompanied by music and a spirit of sharing, circles the city between the waters of the harbor and the streets of the center, symbolizing the deep bond between Fano and the sea. The heart of the festival will be the Ex Church of San Francesco, one of the most fascinating spaces in Fano, a historic location that today welcomes contemporary languages in dialogue with medieval architecture.
Here, the sea finds its voice not only through the beauty of music but also in the moving stories of Fano's sailors and fishermen, true guardians of local tradition and history.
COLAPESCE, whose real name is Lorenzo Urciullo, is one of the brightest and freest talents in the new Italian scene. In 2012, he won the Targa Tenco for Best Debut Work with his debut album “Un meraviglioso declino,” followed by “Egomostro” (2015) and “Infedele” (2017). In 2015, he published, along with Alessandro Baronciani, the graphic novel “La distanza,” published by Bao Publishing. In 2013, he was cited by The Guardian as an example of exportable Italian music. Meanwhile, NME described him as one of the best non-English pop products in Europe, and Le Monde listed “Egomostro” among the best albums of the year. He was nominated for the 2025 David di Donatello for Best Soundtrack for the film “Iddu.”
DIMARTINO, whose real name is Antonio Di Martino, is a musician and songwriter. Since his debut in 2010 with the album “Cara maestra abbiamo perso,” he has chosen Dimartino as his stage name. In 2012, he released “Sarebbe bello non lasciarsi mai, ma abbandonarsi ogni tanto è utile,” which was critically acclaimed as one of the best albums of the year. In 2015, he published “Un paese ci vuole,” a concept album centered around the idea of “country,” freely inspired by “La luna e i falò” by Cesare Pavese, co-writing the song “Una storia del mare” with Francesco Bianconi of Baustelle and duetting with Cristina Donà on the song “I calendari.” In 2017, he co-wrote “Diego ed io” with Brunori Sas, which was included in the album “A casa tutto bene” and used as soundtrack for the Frida Kahlo exhibition at Mudec in Milan. In 2019, “Afrodite,” his fourth studio album, was released and is already considered a gem of Italian music by critics. He has worked as a songwriter for many Italian singers.
Colapesce and Dimartino together published the album “I mortali” (2020), preceded by the singles “L’ultimo giorno,” “Adolescenza nera,” “Rosa e Olindo,” and “Luna araba” featuring Carmen Consoli. They participated in the 71st edition of the Sanremo Festival with the song “Musica leggerissima,” which immediately became a hit topping all charts (certified triple Platinum) and won the Premio Lucio Dalla awarded by the Press Room Radio-Tv-Web. In July 2021, “Toy Boy” featuring Ornella Vanoni was released, accompanied by a video directed by Luca Guadagnino.
REBEL HOUSE is a creative enterprise founded by Mattia Priori and Serena Pierfranceschi, who, after years of voluntary activism in the cultural field, felt the need to dedicate more time and attention to a sector with significant potential value and too little care given. Thus, a true company was born that produces cultural events and boasts the organization of numerous concerts and festivals in the Marche region, as well as national-scale cultural projects such as the traveling augmented reality exhibition “Pictures of You.” The recent innovation introduced in Rebel House involves shaping its activities into services and functions characteristic of a creative agency. With a new operational headquarters in Fano, their skills in development, promotion, and organization of cultural events are at the service of companies, public or private entities, along with communication and corporate brand identity activities, to enhance each specific and significant content.
