Concertino dal Balconcino *Ottobre 18

What is happiness today? A swear word, a gamble, pornography?

In a present choked by wars, bombs, and destruction, talking about happiness seems almost offensive, naïve. And yet, if there is one place where this word ceases—if only briefly—to be a mirage, it is right here, in Turin’s most musical courtyard. The distinguished guests at the Sunday Concertino on October 18 are Eudaimonya, which means “happiness” in Greek—a powerful rock band from Asti.

There will also be the punk-lirico of MCCS, the otherworldly sounds of Hook in the Ears, the poetry of Carlo Molinaro, the minimalist witticisms of Lucas Perello, and the activist voice of the committee Mothers in the Square for Freedom of Dissent.

Sunday, October 18, at 6:00 p.m.
Urban theater, Concertino dal Balconcino
3 Via Mercanti, Turin

A punk writer and an opera singer founded a band unlike any other: MCCS Punklirico. Distorted guitar, explosive drums, walking bass, and a voice that shifts between different intentions and registers. It is punk-lirico, inspired by the most famous genre of rock opera, where every song is a story and every live performance a true spectacle.

From Turin, where they live, they made national headlines with their original challenge to the system. In 2011, they transformed the courtyard of their apartment building into a small open-air theater and their home balcony into a stage. For one hour every Sunday afternoon, they created an unprecedented cultural experiment—a veritable urban-art hub called Concertino dal Balconcino. Over fifteen years, they have performed more than 700 concerts, involving over two thousand artists and 80,000 spectators.
