A widespread installation through the streets of the town, a collective work and an exhibition to stop and reflect on the Values ??we are losing, those we have forgotten, those for which we still fight or that we would like to recover. What are your current Values?
On Sunday, August 11th, at 7:00 pm at the space Via Murat Art Container, at via Murat n°9 in Palagiano (TA), the inauguration of
"Valori in corso" with the artist Pietro De Scisciolo, curated by ZNS project APS in collaboration with Ars Toto srl and with the patronage of the Municipality of Palagiano.
ZNS project APS continues its initiatives for the enhancement of the territory through Art and creativity with the program of independent and self-sustaining artistic residency
2nd Floor Art Residency which this year hosts the sculptor Pietro De Scisciolo, former professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Foggia.
"Valori in corso" was born in Bari, from an idea of the artist in collaboration with Ars Toto srl.
The nature of the project is a creative work in progress that, in harmony with the spirit of
2nd Floor Art Residency, travels on multiple tracks: from community involvement to open-air installation; from the activation of virtuous devices of reflection and shared growth to the care and enhancement of the common good through Art and creativity.
WIDESPREAD INSTALLATION THROUGH THE STREETS OF PALAGIANO
The streets of the town are the subject of the artistic intervention of Pietro De Scisciolo who, in collaboration with ZNS project, has been mapping sensitive locations since May where to install his sculptures:
"Valori in corso" is a widespread open-air installation of 10 sculptures in oxidized iron, pigment, acids, and enamel, free to enjoy along the streets of the town from July to September 2024.
A sort of treasure hunt, an unexpected invitation scattered among the streets of Palagiano and sensibly integrated into the urban fabric.
The selected locations are not random, but they respond coherently to the nature of the project and to the sensitivity expressed by the artist: forgotten historic places, streets once symbols of exchange and long journeys, corners to rediscover and revitalize, spaces of historical sociability. From the recovery of places and therefore identity, to the more social sphere linked to everyday life and the concrete ability to coexist within the community and actively participate; there are multiple reflective nuances, both implicit and explicit, that surround the work on multiple interpretive levels.
THE EXHIBITION
The intervention is complemented by a
Trani stone sculpture, Persian Travertine, 120x10x3 cm, a
series of drawings from the design phase of the entire concept that starts in Bari and branches out to other municipalities like Palagiano, enriching itself with new suggestions and environmental interactions, right up to the co-creation of the
collective work "Valori in corso" in Via Murat 9.
De Scisciolo explores tradition and conventions, surpassing them through a personal and original approach. His research investigates the resonances between linguistic observation and form, as conventional symbols, translating them into a new sense and meaning in a conceptual balance that moves between the poetic and the ironic, the provocative and the reassuring, with a hyper-realistic rendering that does not forget the taste for form and representation. His sensitive ability to interact with the environment in various contexts, from natural to historical and social ones, allows his installations to become a pretext for reflections, reasoning, and rediscoveries.
With his personal stylistic signature, capable of playing with shapes, words, and meanings, De Scisciolo starts from the reproduction of the safety tape, a symbol commonly used in construction areas to secure areas during works in progress, shifting its conventional meaning into a modified value-meaning. A sort of blackout, a reversal that turns from a conventional alert symbol into an invitation enriched with new references. The artist asks us to stop and reflect on ourselves, on our identity, on our lost or forgotten Values, on what should be recovered before losing it definitively.
Where are the Values ??in progress then? What are they? Do we remember them? Do we have new ones? To answer these questions, it is necessary to stop, observe, and search. Take the time to do so. Do it together. Reflect consciously beyond the daily seclusion that sees us continually moving away from ourselves and others, from the ultimate meaning of things compared to false myths, beliefs, individualisms, and sophisticated trends of the moment.
To answer these questions, the project has involved the community, of all ages, also through collaboration with local associations and students from the Academy of Fine Arts in Foggia, both online and in person, particularly for the realization of the
collective work "Valori in corso", a work in progress of reflections, gestures, thoughts that gives protagonism to the community through a participatory process of co-creation. A speaking wall that synthesizes and returns individual stories in a collective narrative to be completed over the course of the project, both online via ZNSproject social channels and in person at scheduled events such as during the White Night on August 5th and the inauguration on August 11th in Via Murat n° 9 in Palagiano.
Another important piece is a wooden box that three-dimensionally reproduces the rhomboid shape of the individual pieces of the safety tape. At the end of the exhibition, during the finissage, each individual contribution to the collective work will be placed in the box and sealed. In this way, like a sort of time bank, individual stories in collective narrative will be frozen in time and, if someone wishes, handed down one day to future generations as testimony or ancient memory of... Values ??in progress.
It will be possible to participate in the co-creation project of the collective wall both online and in person. You don't need to know how to draw, just the desire to dedicate a moment of shared reflection. For any information, simply follow ZNSproject's social pages.
On Sunday, August 11th, from 7:00 pm at Via Murat 9 in Palagiano, the inauguration of the exhibition "Valori in corso" with the sculptural works of Pietro De Scisciolo, during the evening it will be possible to participate in the co-creation of the collective work and dialogue with the artist.
From August 12th to September 8th, the exhibition will be available by appointment by writing to znsprojectlab@gmail.com or in DM on the association's social pages.
