The
21st edition of Bari In Jazz continues relentlessly with its artistic proposal.
On August 6,
at the Minareto della Selva in Fasano (BR), the French-Italian composer, singer-songwriter, guitarist
Fanelly will present for the first time in Italy the compositions of her new project "Il Mare", accompanied by the talented
Mauro Gargano,
Davide Chiarelli and
Abdel Benz, a project in collaboration with the Teatro pubblico Pugliese. Following will be the concert of the
Alba Carmona Duo, led by the Spanish singer-songwriter
Alba Carmona, who skillfully combines tradition and modernity, especially in flamenco and folk music, with
Jesús Guerrero on guitar.
At the same location,
on August 9, there will be
“Ballad for a Tree”, a performance by
Massimo Bertolini performed by saxophonist
Francesco Galizia and dedicated to the centuries-old pine trees of the Minareto garden. "Ballad for a Tree" is one of Massimo Bartolini's most emblematic works: a saxophonist approaches a tree and dedicates a solo to it, in an attempt to establish a connection with it. Following that will be the performance of
Leo Middea, a promising young artist of the new generation of Música Popular Brasileira, with four albums to his name and a large following on Spotify, where he has over 123,000 monthly listeners and songs with over 1 million streams.
On August 10, at the Minareto, there will be a double concert. The evening will start with the
Capriello Duo, formed by saxophonist
Giuseppe Capriello and pianist
Enrico Asquitti, Campanian musicians known for their ability to blend various musical influences into a unique and engaging experience. The stage will then be handed over to
Luca Aquino, an excellent trumpeter and composer from Puglia, whose music ranges from jazz, classical, and contemporary, along with a special guest, flutist
Mariasole De Pascali.
On August 12,
Dareyn Trio:
Lina Lee, with her voice and set of Korean percussion, offers high-intensity performances that connect the audience to a spiritual level.
Emine Bostanci, with her Istanbul kemenche and Cretan lyre, conveys pure and deep emotions, while
Miran Noh adds his virtuosity on jazz piano, enriching the sonic landscape with complex rhythmic structures and a touch of Korean tradition. Following that will be the crossover formation
Three for One plays Jimi Hendrix composed of the musicians
Alberto Gurrisi, organ,
Egidio Marchitelli, guitar and effects,
Fabio Colella, drums, building parallel atmospheres that open up to instantaneous and extemporaneous dialogues that transport the musicians and their audience in Pindaric sensory evolutions.
On August 13, the project
the color of the Mediterranean, through music and words, traces the highlights of the lives of two great figures, Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King, divided by the sea, Mediterranean and Ocean, but united by the same deep sense of justice towards persisting, unacceptable situations regarding the freedoms denied to blacks in Africa and America: an original project, with the narrative voice of
Gabriele Zanini, in collaboration with the
Teatro pubblico Pugliese and following that, the Anglo-Italian group
Be S-Mart, a trio composed of English pianist
Steve Beresford, a free advocate of improvisation, post-punk, and noise who has been part of historical bands such as Slits and Flying Lizards and has collaborated with the greatest jazz musicians in the world,
Pierpaolo Martino, a bassist active in various English and Italian ensembles including The Dinner Party and Frequency Disasters, and Anglo-Belizean drummer
Mark Sanders one of the most sought-after musicians in the field of improv and international jazz, and a collaborator of iconic artists such as Derek Bailey and Jah Wobble.
BARI IN JAZZ is a metropolitan festival, made so thanks to the valuable contribution and collaboration of the Ministry of Culture, Region of Puglia, Teatro Pubblico Pugliese, Puglia Promozione, Consorzio Regionale per le Arti e la Cultura and the municipalities of Bari, Bitetto, Fasano, Monopoli, Mola di Bari, Noci, Polignano a Mare, Sammichele di Bari and Sannicandro.
