For the Twentieth Day of the Contemporary (October 12, 2024) organized by AMACI (Association of Italian Contemporary Art Museums) the 'Leonardo da Vinci' Art and Culture Center' in Bari S.Spirito presents the anthological exhibition of the artist-painter Leonardo Basile at the Art Hypogeum in Via Pisa 4, featuring works created between 1982 and 2024.

Leonardo Basile's artistic path - which he calls 'continuous experimentation' - tangibly demonstrates his unmistakable eclecticism, where for this definition, in the artistic sphere, various tendencies are 'mixed' harmoniously into new and original syntheses, debunking opponents of eclecticism who tend to consider it as a banal, uncritical, and incoherent mixture of theoretically different or even contradictory elements.

"Behind these flashes of color, his repeated squares, geometric compositions, there is the desire to express the feeling and essence of man, the poetry of the soul, the mathematics of life. The apparent geometric perfection used by Basile actually wants to demonstrate imperfection and therefore harmony. The world seen by Basile is fresh, almost adolescent. Nature is hidden but effervescent, the sea, the sun, nothing is defined but hidden, perceived in the nuances of skillful brushstrokes. In his squares there is human reason. "Leonardo Basile is a multifaceted and original artist. In his continuous experiments, the concept of space translates into the relationship between the dimension of the object and the places of its manifestation. In his creations there is always a compositional order, even in the freedom of the sign, in the apparent dialectic, because there is a sense of balance in diversity. His 'cards' are small geometries, square portions of space that contain polychrome essences, variable shades of color that change based on the same tone. Sometimes they are spaces in which different colors and compositions harmonize, playing off each other in chromatic contrasts and fantasy of shapes. The concept of space is expressed in the overlap of objects, in experiments with poor materials such as wood. There is a desire to measure space, to give meaning to what flows around us. In the idea of space, there is also a careful search for color through formal synthesis; a minimalism that entrusts tiny bodies like particles with translating spatiality as a pure idea, as an autonomous concept, a spatialism that reproduces Fontana's spatial concepts. Digital elaboration represents the dimension of a new space, the virtual one, where the dialectic lies in the synthesis between real and virtual, in the fusion of processing processes that transform a real two-dimensional object into an alternative product, through technological intervention."
