Polifemo Innamorato is a show in scenes. The story of the impossible love between Polifemo and Galatea adopts registers (dance, narration, music, but above all life-size puppetry) that contribute to evoke this mythical story in a ritualistic scenographic dimension. The narration intertwines with the dance and with the music that also becomes singing. The setting is essential and contemporary. The music, songs and soundscapes of Puccio Castrogiovanni combine ethnic sounds with electronic variations and accompany the texts that range from Italian to ancient Greek, from Sicilian to Venetian, to Neapolitan. Halfway between contemporary performative opera and traditional narration, Polifemo Innamorato is a show that brings together the registers of the cultured and the popular, trying to be of interest to an audience of all ages and backgrounds.
