AUTUMN FESTIVAL, STARTING THIS WEEKEND

"The Autumn Festival" is approaching. The town of Noci is preparing to celebrate the Saints Doctors Cosmas and Damian and the Madonna of the Rosary with a rich civil and religious program, on stage from 11th to 14th October in the San Domenico neighborhood. The cult of the Saints Doctors for the people of Noci has its origins in the thirties of the twentieth century and has been passed down from generation to generation with great dedication and infinite devotion to the present day. For the past two years, this precious heritage has been collected by the association Spazio Comune, a unique reality that combines the past, represented by the old glories that have always been reference points in the organization of the festival, and the future, in the young faces that make up the association and who intend to bring more and more people closer, so that its "tradition", in the Latin sense of "transmission", is in good hands. Leading the group is president Vittorio Lippolis who anticipates: "this year we wanted to raise the bar. Faith is undoubtedly the key word and the engine of everything and, because of this, we intend to dress up our country for the occasion so that every corner of our neighborhood breathes an atmosphere of celebration." The reference is to the rich gastronomic proposal that will cross via Calvario on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with a fine selection of wines curated by the Italian Sommelier Association and the inevitable roasted chestnuts offered by the "Friends of the chestnut" association from Conversano, but also to the craft markets on via Cavour and the inflatables in Largo Sottotenente Rotolo and via Verdi. The program is now easily accessible on the web and on dedicated social media pages, but due to the imminent event, it must be reviewed: On Saturday 12th October at 7:30 pm at the San Domenico Cloister, there will be a conference "The cult of the Saints Doctors Cosmas and Damian in Puglia, between hagiography and popular devotion" by Antonio Natile with the valuable contributions of Prof. Immacolata Aulisa, professor of History of ancient Christianity - University of Bari Aldo Moro and Prof. Anna Maria TRIPPUTI, professor of History of popular traditions - University of Bari Aldo Moro. Following, on Calvario the eagerly awaited concert by LDA with the opening act of the Nocesian band "Liorsi". Sunday 13th October, a busy schedule of events with the 6:30 pm Mass presided over by S.E. Rev/ma Mons.Giuseppe Favale, Bishop of the Diocese of Conversano-Monopoli, the traditional procession with the flag bearers of Carovigno and the cavalcade along the outskirts of the town with the release of the hot air balloon. In the evening, the concert by "La Zanzarita Orchestra", a tribute to Renzo Arbore with the extraordinary participation of Mariano Caiano. Grand finale on via Repubblica with the pyrotechnic show by the award-winning company Vaccaluzzo. On Monday 14th October at 7 pm on Calvario, there will be the Mass presided over by S.E. Rev/ma Mons. Giovanni Ricchiuti, Archbishop- Bishop Emeritus of Altamura-Gravina-Acquaviva delle Fonti. This will be followed by the award ceremony of the winning teams of the "Autumn Festival Tournament" and the delivery of the financial contribution to the Smith Magenis Italia Association; at 8:30 pm at Calvario, there will be the drawing of the winners of the Autumn Festival raffle. To conclude, the concert by the town band "S. Cecilia- G. Sgobba" with the extraordinary participation of Mario Rosini.
