Start of “Sovra Naturale”: the most important producers of natural wine from all over Europe gather in Puglia, from November 9 to 11, within the evocative walls of the Norman-Swabian Castle of Sannicandro di Bari.
Three days of tastings, meetings, music, and conferences dedicated to natural wine. An event for industry professionals and also open to all enthusiasts eager to deepen their knowledge of the world of handcrafted wines.
Many guests are expected, such as Marcel De Cocq, a Slovenian influencer, taster, and wine critic, who will lead a masterclass titled "I feel Slovenia". Giancarlo Moschetti, a professor from the University of Palermo, will also be there, giving a talk on yeasts in the history of Italian wine, followed by a panel on wine tourism featuring Valter Kramer (Hiša Franko and Hiša Polonka, Kobarid, Slovenia), Lorenzo Macinanti (SoloVino Enoteca Naturale in Rome), and Andrea Zigrossi, author of the blog Trotter Wine, moderated by Giovanni Ventrella, delegate of FIS Bari.
“Sovra Naturale is an authentic experience where participants can taste wines that reflect the true character of the territory and the craftsmanship of the producers. There will be 500 labels from all over Europe, from France to Slovenia, passing through Germany and Austria, and obviously the entire Italy with Radikon and Movia from Friuli, Fabiani from Tuscany, Andrea Pilar from Umbria, reaching Puglia with Archetipo, just to name a few,” explain the organizers Rossana Ferrante, Antonio di Tommaso, and Vitandrea Baccellieri of the association Brevi Manu - here the complete list of producers.
During the event, the most qualified and promising producers in the field of natural wines - who adopt low environmental impact agricultural practices and use spontaneous fermentations, strictly respecting artisanal production principles and the territory - will offer wines free of artificial manipulations, made using low environmental impact agricultural practices and spontaneous fermentations, respecting the territory and artisanal traditions.
The sensory journey of “Sovra Naturale” will start on Saturday, November 9 at 5:00 PM with an opening rich in wine tastings and Apulian gastronomic products, craft markets, talks, and live music. During the course, participants will be able to taste some of his creations, paired with sweet wine from the Emilia winery VNA. The evening will continue at 7:00 PM with a show-cooking session by Antonio Bufi and Lucia Della Guardia, a traveling chef and the “herb lady”, who will explore the world of mushrooms and zero waste cooking techniques to transform a humble product into a gourmet dish.
There will also be moments of cultural enrichment, such as the talk on photography and sustainability by Giovanni Albore (director of the Spazio Tempo school and artistic director of the Radar festival) and Mauro Nisio, professor of food chemistry at the University of Bari, blogger, and founder of the La Cucina di Mauro column, and the presentation of the book "World of Wine" by Andrea Zigrossi, known on social media as Trotter Wine, in conversation with Mayra Pietreocola, actress and host of Mattino Norba weekend and co-host of the MED meridionale e dintorni column.
