**Lasting Impressions**

"Not all traces endure in the same way; some deteriorate with time, leading to oblivion."
The RECordis residency (from Latin, recalling from the heart) is a project supported by the European program
**Culture Moves Europe and funded by the Goethe Institut.**
The residency took place over two months at Palazzo Ulmo in the historic center of Taranto, involving 5 artists from various countries, including Italy, Germany, England, and Denmark.
The artists of RECordis were asked to share a space and time in flux and continual change, which is that of the historical center of Taranto, one of the last in Italy not yet gentrified.
During the project, we explored the urban landscape, paying attention to the complexity of social ecologies and the fragility of architectural heritage...
The selected artists interpreted and reworked their personal experiences related to signs, places, and people that "resist," transforming them into connections between memory, architectural heritage, and cultural identity.
The exhibition aims to stimulate reflection on the strength with which these traces, though fading, connect our past to the present, telling us who we are today and the space in which our lives unfold—or rather—that of the inhabitants of the old city of Taranto.
Each work is simultaneously an invitation to observe and a reminder to remember, in the belief that by strengthening the sense of identity, art is a tool to support and protect our essence in the face of the challenges that lie ahead.
Lasting Impressions becomes an opportunity to inquire into future imaginaries that, though changing, continue to resonate with the stories and experiences of the inhabitants, preserving an authentic sense of belonging and continuity.

Palazzo Ulmo opens on Friday, November 15, 2024, at 7:00 PM, with the collective exhibition of the artists in residency
