Aperitivo d'Autore con Chiara Tagliaferri
Food and wine
Cultural
**Author's Aperitif** closes its 2024 in the place where it all began: in **Crispiano**, at the welcoming **Parco delle Querce** (Masseria Le Caselle). It does so with a special event featuring guest **Chiara Tagliaferri**. The author from Piacenza will present the latest volume of the literary and political project she co-created with **Michela Murgia** a few years ago, which began as a highly successful podcast and later turned into a renowned series of three books: **_Morgana_**. The event will take place on **December 18** at **7:30 PM**.
In **_Morgana. The Mother’s Body_** (**Mondadori**), Tagliaferri and Murgia have focused on the body as a moldable element of identity and on motherhood in its most intricate declinations. Within it, the two activists and writers narrate the stories of eleven women, plus that of David Bowie: each chapter is a character, a different life. This time, among these out-of-the-box girls’ stories, Michela Murgia herself is also included, "because she is the most Morgana of all."
As customary in the Volta la carta format, the first part of the evening will be dedicated to food and wine. The audience will have the opportunity to enjoy an aperitif prepared by the venue's kitchen and accompanied by excellent **Vetrère** wines. Additionally, we've planned a sweet ending to the evening, courtesy of **Ideal Pasticceria**.

**• THE AUTHORS •**
Michela Murgia (1972 – 2023) debuted as a writer in 2006 with "Il mondo deve sapere" (ISBN Edizioni). Among her works published by Einaudi, translated into more than thirty countries, are “Accabadora” (Campiello Prize 2010), “Ave Mary. E la Chiesa inventò la donna” (2011), “Chirù” (2015), “Istruzioni per diventare fascisti” (2018), “Stai zitta. E altre nove frasi che non vogliamo sentire più” (2021), “God Save the Queer. Catechismo femminista” (2022). Together with Chiara Tagliaferri, she authored “Morgana. Stories of girls your mother wouldn't approve of” (Mondadori, 2019) and “Morgana. L’uomo ricco sono io” (Mondadori, 2021), inspired by the podcast of the same name from the platform Storielibere.fm. Following the enormous success of her latest novel “Tre ciotole. Rituali per un anno di crisi” (Mondadori, 2023), “Dare la vita” (Rizzoli, 2024) was released. Also in 2024, nearly a year after her passing, her autobiography, “Ricordatemi come vi pare. In memoria di me” (Mondadori), was published.
Chiara Tagliaferri was born in Piacenza and currently lives in Rome. Her novel “Strega comanda colore” was released in 2022 by Mondadori. She co-authored with Michela Murgia the books “Morgana. Stories of girls your mother wouldn't approve of” (Mondadori, 2019) and “Morgana. L’uomo ricco sono io” (Mondadori, 2021), inspired by the cult podcast of the same name. For Storielibere.fm she curated and authored several other podcasts like “Les Diaboliques” and “Sailor”, conceived with Maria Luisa Frisa. Since 2021, she has hosted the Orizzonti Extra meetings at the Venice International Film Festival. She contributed to the anthologies "Musa e getta. Sixteen writers for sixteen unforgettable, but sometimes forgotten women” (Ponte alle Grazie, 2021) and “Dove si scrive, come si scrive” (Rizzoli, 2023).
**• THE BOOK •**
With this third volume, the extraordinary literary and political project Michela Murgia and Chiara Tagliaferri inaugurated in 2019 through a very successful podcast, which then became the first book of the famous series: “Morgana. Stories of girls your mother wouldn't approve of,” comes to a close. Since then, these "out-of-the-box girls," whose last concern is pleasing others, have multiplied exponentially, not only in the luminous writings of the authors but also among the vast audience of listeners and readers, giving rise to a wonderful collective experience, a brave army of Morganas composed of women – but also men, people in transition, and queer individuals – who have seen and recognized themselves in those stories of freedom and courage. The body as a moldable element of identity and motherhood in its most intricate declensions are the political subjects the two writers have chosen to center in this final chapter. And, as Chiara Tagliaferri writes in the book’s preface: “You will find Morgana terrorists, girls from Nazareth who come to change the world, mothers who keep marching around the Plaza de Mayo obelisk, writers without bodies or trapped in glass bells, pioneers of feminism and cosmetic surgery... Their stories depict a liberating world rich with alternative fertility, all different, in which no mother is better or worse than another.” Mary of Nazareth, the ultimate non-mother, Elena Ferrante who has imposed herself worldwide regardless of physical presence, David Bowie who loved to change skins constantly, the “twice mothers” of Plaza de Mayo, Sylvia Plath, Goliarda Sapienza, and many others. And finally, Michela Murgia herself, a mother, friend, sister, intellectual, and woman of many lives, portrayed through the voice of her queer family and closest friends. These Morganas burn more than ever, and the light they emit will never stop illuminating all the deviations on our path.
**• THE LOCATION •**
Among the 100 farms in the Municipality of Crispiano is the Masseria Le Caselle, located within the tourist complex of Parco delle Querce, consisting of centuries-old trulli and surrounded by ancient olive trees. Located in the Regional Park of the Gravine and in the heart of the Pianelle forest nature reserve, Parco delle Querce offers a 100% "green experience." A setting for civil weddings and receptions, the structure provides a refined gastronomic experience by masterfully balancing authentic local flavors. What was once Masseria Le Caselle, with its rustic rooms and barn, is now a cherished location for an elegant nuptial lunch or dinner, focusing on exquisite historical and natural details. The hotel has 29 cloister-style rooms and an exclusive swimming pool. Additionally, the complex hosts a water park capable of accommodating about 2000 people (after full expansion). In the onciario cadastre of the Bourbon era dated 1742-1748, the site of "Caselle" is well mentioned, which was in the properties of a priest from Martina Franca at the time. It was described then as a “colonist dwelling,” and its toponymic origin comes from the presence of “casedde,” or dwellings made of trulli, therefore dating its construction to the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries. Over the centuries, a series of properties from Martina families have followed. Since 2019, the structure has belonged to entrepreneur Stefano Scatigna.
**• THE WINES •**
The first certain news about the estate dates back to the 1600s when Baroque blossomed in Salento. An ancient map from the 1700s attests to the presence of an already established agricultural and wine-growing reality on the land that today is home to the Vetrère farm. In 1903, Serafina Troilo married Michele Ammazzalorsa, leaving her estates to her nephew Enrico Bruni, father of the current owners. Since 2002, the business has been managed by Annamaria and Francesca. Since 1999, 50% of the production is organic, and since 2016, the entire company has been run organically. Vetrère pursues a sustainability strategy to reduce the environmental impacts generated by agricultural activity. This is possible through the use of certified raw materials for organic farming, the maintenance of hedges and dry-stone walls, necessary refuges for wild forms, and controlled greening. Moreover, Vetrère can meet its energy needs independently: the electricity is produced by the generosity of the Puglian sun. A biomass boiler generates the heat needed for the estate: the grape seeds are naturally dried in summer to become natural fuel in winter. Among reds, whites, rosés, and sparkling, Vetrère currently produces about twenty labels, many of which have received various awards over the years. From the fruit of marvelous ancient olive trees, Vetrère also produces extra virgin olive oil. The company is located in Taranto, on the Monteiasi – Montemesola provincial road.
