LUMINA - Festa della Luce

On Friday, December 13, 2024, the city of Gioia del Colle will host a unique event, blending tradition and innovation: **"LUMINA: Festival of Light."** This event, part of the program **"Natale è subito Gioia,"** organized by the **Cultural Association ONE – New Events Organization,** in collaboration with the "Historic Center Committee – Gioia del Colle" and **under the patronage of the Municipality of Gioia del Colle, Department of Environment, Historic Center, and Commerce,** will enliven Corso Vittorio Emanuele, Piazza dei Martiri, and the Norman Swabian Castle, merging the ancient street artists' craft with breathtaking light and fire shows.

**The ancient tradition of street artists**
The art of street performers dates back to the Middle Ages when jesters, acrobats, and musicians entertained noble courts and city markets. Since then, these artists have become ambassadors of a popular cultural expression, carrying with them a timeless magic. During LUMINA, jugglers, stilt walkers, and fire acrobats will create an experience that enchants adults and children, evoking the spirit of ancient squares brought to life by lights and sounds.

**A magical journey with the Norman Swabian Castle as the main attraction**
The Norman Swabian Castle, a historical and architectural symbol of Gioia del Colle, will serve as the perfect setting for the central show. Beneath its walls, light and fire displays will intertwine in a performance celebrating warmth and the rebirth of light, perfectly aligned with the feast of Santa Lucia. This site, already the stage of centuries of history, will become the beating heart of the event, highlighting its unique charm.

**Evening program:**
- 7:00 PM – Opening of markets and tastings: Local crafts and culinary specialties stands will accompany visitors along Corso Vittorio Emanuele.
- 8:00 PM – Street artist performances: Traveling performances will animate the route, offering unforgettable emotions.
- 9:00 PM – Central show: Under the Castle, light and fire choreographies will create an extraordinary evening, utilizing innovative visual technologies.
