On December 20th at 6:00 PM, in the beautiful Ceremony Hall of the City Hall on Via Marconi, in Castellana-Grotte, there will be a presentation to the town of the literary debut in the novel "Nemmeno Dio può giudicarci" (Even God Can't Judge Us) by Francesca Sgobba, published by Fides Edizioni.
Alongside the author, a sensitive 25-year-old from Castellana, will be Giancarlo Fiume, director of TGR Puglia. Official greetings will be given by the Mayor of Castellana-Grotte, Domi Ciliberti, and honorable Ubaldo Pagano.
After the event, there will be a "meet and greet," book signing, and aperitif in the adjoining hall.
The Work
In Brescia, three young men and one young woman share an apartment with Alberto, a high school student fleeing from a family environment in which he doesn't identify, facing the great challenge of becoming adults, understanding, and confronting their own contradictions and traumas.
It is the relationship that drives the story; the arrival of the other acts as a spark for the unfolding events.
If everyone hides an abyss behind a whitewashed facade, the other becomes a benchmark, a lifeline, or an invitation to downfall. Sartre’s "L'enfer, c'est les autres" (Hell is other people) becomes an emblem of the inevitability of contact, a rebuttal to any attempt at solipsistic self-sufficiency.
For Alberto, the end of adolescence, constantly deferred in the succession of generations, an extended neoteny of the human species, becomes an unfiltered view of the world, an awareness of his desires on one hand, and the ability to take responsibility for them on the other.
