**VOICES AND STEPS OF SOUTHERN ITALY - Exploring the TARANTELLE of Southern Italy with live music by Manuela Rorro and Luca Buccarella.**
A small journey through the different dances that characterize the regions of Southern Italy. A musical and dance journey, enriched with readings and stories about some of the most beautiful festivals and rituals of our southern regions.
The aim of the workshop is to guide participants through a journey of rediscovery of traditional dance forms that have survived to this day, learning their figures, history, gestures, and discovering the different dance styles and their contemporary evolution.
Our journey will be divided into several stages: from the "pizzica pizzica" of central-southern Puglia to the "tarantella Carpinese" from Gargano; we will dance the steps of the "tammurriata" in the agro-nocerino-sarnese style of the Avellino area to reach Irpinia with the "tarantella of Montemarano"; and we cannot miss passing through Southern Calabria to encounter the "sonu a ballu" of the Aspromonte wheels.
Manuela Rorro will guide us in dance, accompanied by live sonatas from Luca Buccarella.

**MANUELA RORRO - Actress, dancer, teacher.**
Passionate about theater since childhood, she approached acting studies during her degree in Philosophy. In 2002, director and son of art Sergio Pisapia Fiore initiated her into professional work, starting with the scripts of Commedia dell’Arte and studying masks related to popular tradition, casting her in the company for numerous tours throughout Italy. Their collaboration continues to this day. In 2009, she graduated as a prose actress from the "Galante Garrone Theater School of Bologna." In 2007, she began collaborating with Maristella Martella, director of Tarantarte, a cultural association promoting the study of popular dances from southern Italy and the Mediterranean. Within the association, Manuela organizes events, teaches at the stable locations in Bologna and Lecce, and conducts teaching activities in other cities. In 2008, she joined "Compagnia Tarantarte - nuova danza popolare" as a dancer, participating in major festivals including "Festival OrienteOccidente" in Rovereto and "La notte della Taranta" in Melpignano, "Sponz Fest," by Vinicio Capossela. She continues to deepen her knowledge of traditional dances from Southern Italy and beyond, researching forms from different regions and styles and visiting places of origin. Recently, she debuted as a teacher and theater director at Teatro Bentivoglio (BO). She studies movement analysis with ethno-choreologist Placida Staro, regularly conducts dance and theater courses, and continues her work as a theater interpreter. For fifteen years, she has led "Tradition and Gesture," a permanent workshop in Florence where different languages of traditional dance, contemporary dance, physical theater, and dance therapy intertwine.
**LUCA BUCCARELLA - Musician, music therapist, and teacher.**
A multi-instrumentalist musician from Salento, he took his first musical steps at the age of 10 during the heyday of Salento's popular tradition. He approached the study of the Puglian tambourine, learning traditional styles and sonatas directly from the elders. He later studied guitar and harmonica, but his main instrument became the diatonic accordion. At the age of 14, he co-founded Kalàscima with Riccardo Laganà and Andrea Morciano, one of the most innovative groups of Italian world music. With Kalàscima, he boasts numerous tours in Italy and abroad and participates in prestigious international festivals including the "Sziget Festival" (Hungary), Tatihou Festival (Normandy), "Festival of Music" (Berlin), Carpino folk festival, "Night of the Taranta" (Italy), Roskilde festival (Denmark), Colours of Ostrava (Czech Republic), Gwangju world music festival (South Korea). He is also the author of music and soundtracks for various projects including the app Sherazade Storymaker for traveling. In 2011, he expanded his skills to the socio-educational field through a journey into art therapies, specializing in music therapy. The integration of these specific techniques characterizes and makes his teaching method even more effective, especially in the approach with children and people with disabilities.
