**THE LOVE I HAVE** The story of the legend of the folk song Rosa Balistreri.
Directed by Paolo Licata. A must-watch film starring Lucia Sardo, Donatella Finocchiaro, Anita Pomario, Tania Bambaci, Vincenzo Ferrera. Full cast Drama genre - Italy, 2025, runtime 125 minutes. A sincere tribute to an artist with exceptional talent and a tragic existence. Sardo, like the entire female cast of the film, is truly exceptional: alongside her are Donatella Finocchiaro and Anita Pomario in the three phases of Rosa’s life, Tania Bambaci in the role of Angela, and Katia Greco as Maria, all extremely effective. Carmen Consoli, who composed the film's music, appears in a cameo as a street musician accompanying Rosa in her performances. Throughout the narrative, many famous figures who intersected with Rosa Balistreri's professional and personal life are mentioned, from Franca Rame and Dario Fo to Renato Guttuso, from Otello Profazio to Andrea Camilleri, well evoked towards the end of the film. The political commitment in the Communist Party is barely touched upon, with more incisive references to Rosa’s attempts to imagine "a free and independent Sicily" and to restore respect to Sicilian women. Men are assigned a feral, treacherous, and lascivious role, with the sole exception of the character of nephew Luca, the author of the novel on which the film is based.

**I SAW A KING**
A film by Giorgia Farina. Starring Edoardo Pesce, Sara Serraiocco, Marco Fiore, Gabriel Gougsa, Blu Yoshimi, Giulio Forges Davanzati, Elisa Di Eusanio, Michelangelo Dalisi, Lino Musella, Gaetano Bruno, Patrizio Francioni Comedy, runtime 100 min. - Italy 2025. "I Saw a King," the new work by Giorgia Farina, a director that’s never banal and adept at making each film profoundly different from her previous ones since her debut "Amiche da morire." Embracing her creative versatility, which is quite rare in Italy, she directs this time a film deliberately halfway between fairy tale and history, enchantment and horror. She sets it in the fascist era, not sparing evoking its violent atmosphere, but chooses to focus on the bright perspective of a child. A child who, as seen from the first scene, willingly gets lost in fantasies, adventures, and daydreams. When he meets an African prince, he is not frightened like the adults, nor does he discriminate like the fascists, on the contrary, he treats him as the prince he is. It would be enough to regain the enchanted, empathic, and benevolent gaze of a child, Farina seems to suggest, to suddenly collapse attitudes full of hatred towards others. In this film, adults behave much worse than children, not coincidentally often caricatured. Certainly, the unlikely parental couple formed by the boaster Podestà played by Edoardo Pesce and his artistic wife Sara Serraiocco is one such caricature.
