Running Heart: elettrocardiogramma e screening glicemia gratuiti

The "Running Heart" returns to Bari for its seventh edition, an event dedicated to promoting sports and a healthy lifestyle, with a focus on free prevention of heart diseases and diabetes.

On Saturday, April 5, from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM and from 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM, at the "Prevention Village" set up in Parco 2 Giugno (entrance Via Einaudi) in Bari, it will be possible to undergo an electrocardiogram (ECG) and diabetes screening free of charge, thanks to a team of specialists led by two prominent doctors from Puglia: Dr. Massimo Grimaldi, Director of Cardiology and Intensive Cardiac Care Unit at Miulli Hospital and designated president of the National Association of Hospital Cardiologists (ANMCO), and Prof. Francesco Giorgino, Director of the Complex Operative Unit of Endocrinology at the University of Bari and Vice President of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD).

Patients will also be given a "Bancomheart" card, a virtual medical record capable of securely storing personal health data.

This opportunity for high-quality free diagnosis for all citizens of Bari and surrounding areas is made possible thanks to the efforts of the Foundation for Your Heart, the Ama Cuore Bari Association, the Bari Diabetics Association, and organized by Meeting Planner, in addition to the voluntary doctors from ANMCO Puglia and the UOC of Endocrinology at the Bari Polyclinic.

This year, the "Heart Run" is also held in collaboration with Vivicittà, an international running event organized by the Italian Union of Sport for All (UISP), taking place simultaneously in dozens of cities. It offers numerous middle-distance runners enrolling in various races (competitive and non-competitive) the chance for free diagnostics directly in Bari pharmacies, from March 31 to April 12. Thanks to Federfarma Bari, all registrants for Vivicittà 2025 can visit one of the participating pharmacies to undergo screenings.

In last year's edition, the volunteer doctors of the "Running Heart" conducted several hundred blood sugar measurements at the “Prevention Village”, identifying many diabetic individuals (who were unaware of their condition) and numerous cardiological issues, possibly mild, which nonetheless allowed these individuals to embark on therapeutic paths.
