ERA MEGLIO LA PAPAYA di e con Arianna Gambaccini

On the stage, a light, a woman, a white suit, a chair, a small showcase, an apple. A long reflection out loud, between the serious and the facetious, on what is the limit (primordial and imposed by common belief) absolutely and necessarily crossable between man and woman, starting from the archetype of the very first woman. If Eve had witnessed all this progress, what would she say now about the condition of the Feminine? Going back, would she rebel? Would she still eat the apple? But above all, would she change the last vowel of the God she learned to invoke?

Starting from “You Shall Be As Gods” by Erik Fromm (in which the act of picking the apple is considered an act of rebellion = return to beauty), “The Natural Superiority of Men” and “Eve’s Answer to the Natural Superiority of Men” by Tama Starr and “When God Was a Woman” by Merlin Stone, the show retraces the anachronism of the social dogmas imposed on the theme of the feminine, all told in the tragicomic, desperate, and eternal attempt made by the woman (in this case the first) to find legitimacy for herself without feeling guilty about what she is, only to discover that modern civilization very simply (and trivially) does not accept what it considers "different" and "weak."

In the completion of the text, various female testimonies were collected, arguing each verse of the Letter to God mentioned above, as if they all became the one voice of Eve. Modern and Archetypal. Sarcastic and Dramatic. Because the sad truth is that the “other half of the Sky” is the only half that can give birth to both parts.
