Yo Yo Mundi - Biography.
Historical group of author’s song and Italian folk-rock, the Yo Yo Mundi come from Monferrato la terra di Luigi Tenco, songs by Paolo Conte, stories by Pavese, Lajolo and Fenoglio and have been in business for more than thirty years. The tireless creators of a long and wide wandering through the peninsula made of concerts, reading, theatrical performances, soundtracks, have often crossed the Italian borders: memorable tour of Strike - live sound of the film by S. M. Ėjzenštejn -, in the UK and Ireland in 2008. They have nineteen albums, the first "La diserzione degli animali del circo", released in 1994. We are pleased to recall that the 2016 album, "Evidenti tracce di felicità", was named in the final five of the Tenco Prize for the category "Album of the year". The last albums of the monferrino group were released respectively in 2020 "La rivoluzione del battito di ciglia" (a work that marks a turning point both in style and poetics) and in 2023, il progetto resistente - book and album - "Partigiani Sempre!" (with Massimo Carlotto and Maurizio Camardi, published by Nota). Their music, from the beginning, was colorful, sghemba and full of energy - Yo Yo Mundi do "wild music", said one day about them Paolo Conte! -.Their stylistic figure has evolved considerably also thanks to wonderful collaborations and extraordinary meetings - in various ways! - with artists such as: Ivano Fossati Lella Costa, Giorgio Gaber, Franco Branciaroli, Wu Ming, Giuseppe Cederna, Carlo Petrini, Massimo Carlotto, Maurizio Camardi, Gang, Eugenio Finardi, Steve Wickham (The Waterboys), Marco Baliani, Teresa De Balisio, Brian Ritchie and Gordon Gano (Violent Femmes), Guy Kyser (Thin White Rope), Michael Brook, Franco Battiato, Hevia, Paolo Bonfanti, Banda Osiris, Giorgio Li Calzi, Trey Gunn and Beppe Quirici (just to name a few). They have always been sensitive to the issues related to the protection of the environment and human rights, they have actively collaborated with associations such as ANPI, Emergency, Amnesty International, LAV, Greenpeace.
