Book presentations, theater performances, exhibitions, and guided tours: from May 4 to 31, the second edition of "Giardini di Pietra – Places, Verses, and Stories in Bari Vecchia"
From May 4 to 31, 2025, the historic center of Bari will host the second edition of the event series
"Giardini di Pietra – Places, Verses, and Stories in Bari Vecchia", organized by Aps Martinus, in collaboration with other associations and cultural and artistic entities in the area, with the support of the Bari Chamber of Commerce. The event series will begin with two events on Sunday, May 4, and Monday, May 5, and will be officially presented on
Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 6:00 PM at
Corte Bianchi Dottula (Via Dottula 10 - Bari Vecchia) with the presence of association representatives and participating authors. The event, which received great feedback in 2024, is inspired by the ancient tradition of the "Bari May" and includes cultural events, art exhibitions, theater performances, book presentations, concerts, and guided tours in the city's historic center. The series promotes knowledge of the history, art, and architecture of Bari and Puglia, as well as the recovery of collective memory and tradition as an identity element for the community. "Giardini di Pietra" also aims to raise funds for the restoration and repurposing of the church of San Martino, reopened after 60 years of neglect by Aps Martinus. The church will be one of the locations to visit during the many scheduled events, but the true key location of the series will be the scenic courtyard of Palazzo Bianchi Dottula, a fascinating place restored to its former splendor. The courtyard will become an open stage for everyone throughout May, where the stories of Bari, its traditions, and secrets hidden behind its stone facades will be narrated. This year, the event series will extend beyond the old city, bringing meetings that will cover locations, stories, and tales throughout Puglia. Participating in the guided tours will provide an opportunity to explore Bari's rich cultural heritage, and more, and its hidden beauty: picturesque arches and charming courtyards, disappeared monasteries, and ancient churches (including San Martino), streets, and elegant buildings, places that hold stories and legends that have shaped the social fabric of the territory over the centuries: a fascinating journey where history and art merge in a suggestive setting of stone gardens.
