After the great success of the 2024 edition, the
Italian Sommelier Association of Puglia, in collaboration with the
Agriculture Department of the Puglia Region, and in partnership with the
Consortium for the Protection of Primitivo di Manduria DOC and DOCG, and the
Consortium of D.O.P. Salice Salentino Wines, is pleased to announce
PUGLIA EVO 2025, the event dedicated to celebrating and enhancing the culture of regional extra virgin olive oil.
Scheduled for
Sunday, May 18, 2025, starting at 11:00 am, in the picturesque setting of Masseria Montalbano in Ostuni, PUGLIA EVO 2025 represents an important opportunity to recognize and promote the quality and identity of Puglia’s EVO oil, thanks to the passionate commitment of AIS sommeliers.
AIS Puglia, which has expanded courses for EVO Oil Tasters throughout the region, continues with determination its mission to spread the culture of extra virgin olive oil, replicating the successful model already established in the wine sector.
The day will open with
a round table for technical-cultural deepening, with the participation of distinguished speakers:
Dr. Donato Pentassuglia, Agriculture Councillor of the Puglia Region;
Prof. Vincenzo Zampi, Professor of Business Economics and Management at the University of Florence;
Dr. Luigi Caricato, writer, journalist, and founder of the cultural project “Olio Officina”;
Dr. Addolorata Desantis, President of FOOI (Italian Olive Oil Supply Chain);
Dr. Giuseppe Baldassarre, AIS National Councillor and President of the AIS Italy EVO Oil Subcommittee.
The highlight will be the
Awards Ceremony for the Selection of the Best EVO Oils of Puglia 2025, granting recognition to the best extra virgins divided into
“Intense Fruity,” “Medium Fruity,” and “Light Fruity” categories. The selection was overseen by a commission of AIS Professional Sommeliers, highly specialized in sensory analysis.
At lunchtime, starting from 1:00 pm, participants will experience
an exclusive sensory tour through tasting dishes crafted by the
Executive Chef of Masseria Montalbano, Giovanni Curri, designed to showcase the various Puglian EVO oil cultivars. The experience will be completed by a refined selection of Primitivo di Manduria DOC and DOCG wines, and D.O.P. Salice Salentino wines, reinforcing the unbreakable bond between oil and wine, the true expression of the land of Puglia.
With PUGLIA EVO 2025, AIS Puglia confirms its leading role in promoting the regional agri-food identity, enhancing the tradition and innovation that make Puglian extra virgin olive oil a treasure of excellence at both national and international levels.
