Ritratti Festival 2025 | Codici di Amicizia | La XV Sinfonia di Shostakovich

Thursday, August 7th, Ritratti Festival pays tribute to Dmitri Shostakovich, on the 50th anniversary of his passing.

The main feature is his #XV Symphony, an enigmatic work rich in symbolism: playful and restless, theatrical and reflective—a true musical testament, also beloved by director David Lynch.

Opening the concert, with a program that reveals the more intimate and contradictory side of one of the most intense and visionary composers of the twentieth century, is the Sonata for Clarinet and Piano by Mieczysław Weinberg, a composer bound to Shostakovich by a deep, brotherly friendship: a code of artistic understanding that transcends time.

The XXI edition of Ritratti Festival is titled "Secret Codes - Praise of Folly": an exploration of the hidden languages of art, the unstable balances between rationality and creative impulse, the fertile darkness from which the most authentic visions are born.

Ritratti is carried out under the high patronage of the European Parliament, with the support of the Ministry of Culture, PACT - Pole of Arts Culture Tourism Region of Puglia, and the Department of Culture of the City of Monopoli, led by Rosanna Perricci, and benefits from the active collaboration of an important network of partners: Teatro Radar/Teatri di Bari, Asp-Romanelli Palmieri, Misericordia Monopoli, Associazione Amici di San Salvatore, Radio Puglia.
