Every **Tuesday in July and August**, the Museum of Memory and Welcome offers a tour of **Santa Maria al Bagno**, combined with a visit to the Museum and a **wine aperitif** with a sea view.

The visit to Santa Maria al Bagno includes a walk along the seafront, culminating at the bay with its picturesque setting of **seaside palaces and villas** built by the local bourgeoisie between the 19th and 20th centuries. This transformation occurred when the small village became a prominent seaside resort, thanks to the foresight of a local entrepreneur of the time.

Between **1943 and 1947**, Santa Maria al Bagno unwittingly became the protagonist of one of the most significant chapters in modern history. An international plan directed by the Allies designated it as a safe haven for many people fleeing Nazism and fascism, in transit to other destinations. The outcome was an experience of civil coexistence, as well as great **solidarity and integration** between the hosted people and the locals. This moving story can be discovered in the rooms of the Museum of Memory and Welcome.
